Buildcrafting for people who want a competitive build is dead.

do you guys honestly expect anything, from the upcoming expansion?

Release - with all it's bells and whistles and shiny trailers - had all this shiny new content, while sporting pretty much Beta-grade quality in terms of code optimization and balance, plus crap-grade layered-RNG-everywhere design to boot. Chris' answer to life, the universe, and everything.
fucking dice.

GGG are so fucking stubborn it's amazing. and I'm here complaining for 1.5 years, not a couple of months.
very little changed in terms of code quality.
practically nothing changed in core design.
as far as I'm concerned, this game is still in Beta.

but GGG obviously prefer quantity over quality, instant "band-aids" over long-term solutions that require more serious effort, and their own narrow-minded decisions and priorities - over literally Megabytes of feedback from experienced ARPG/RPG/D&D/Roguelike/MMO players, and coding peers, spanning across the years this game exists.

and white-knighting fanboys will always be fanboys - defending their every move and every dumb decision (or mostly lack of). attacking those who dare call out those bad decisions and twisted prioritization.
claiming anyone who's not part of the "all is fine" faction, doesn't care about this game - when they are the ones actually doing most of the damage to it.
they, and GGG themselves.

just imagine what this game could be like, if it was the exact same idea, features and structure, but implemented by Blizzard instead of GGG.
early-90s Blizzard. real Blizzard, not Craptivision.
I'll just leave you here to drool.

way to take a fucking epic game potential - and run it into the ground.
Path Of Exile is just pathetic, when compared to the sum of its parts.

Get your shit together doctor Doom.

I agree that up to know, GGG gave prio for quantity over quality and kept adding more content on a not very much changed game in terms of core design.

GGG will not move away from RNG very quickly but instead will look for more ways to reward players.

Let's wait what the next expansion will bring, I mean if you have been complaining for 1.5 years you're not going to tell me you give up hope 3 weeks before the next expansion are you?

The last straw for me was Invasion league. Past that I don't take GGG seriously at all anymore. It was blatantly obvious that 0 testing was done by the devs, as they violated multiple in game rules that they already set forth.

Oh and before you WK nerds say "WELL THE GOAL OF INVASION LEAGUE WAS TO KILL YOU" I guess getting one shot by frost walls or getting hellah desynced by Ossecati skeleton summons was done on purpose. Or the billions of other glitches and hilarious problems with the Invaders (such as some of the Invaders perfectly blending in with all the other mobs, which made it a huge problem in maps).

Not to mention it was so blatantly obvious that people were RMTing/Botting in Invasion league it was absolutely hilarious.

I honestly expect quite a good expansion coming and i will try it out too.

What i don't expect is them to actually fix the game they already have, so that we can have a game where many pathways lead to roughly equal success.

I don't want perfect balance, hell i wouldn't mind if a build was 30-40% weaker as long as it was fun, but that 2-300% stronger or more is just so far off. I'm not talking about a cheap build vs an expensive one either.

And please guys stay away from cheasy dissses like just saying they prefer to do bad, i don't want such a thread ofc they don't, but goddamn they SLACK when it comes to fixing the games problems, some of them are very simple and just ignored anyway.
I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.

To this and also to OP for that matter:

Maybe you can start by showing some respect to the company that gives meaning to your little lives for free to start with.
The fact that you're on the forum means that you still care for this game and have hope for it to me.
So my question to you is why you're being so pessimistic and not very constructive. Pessimism will not bring us very far and complaining for 1.5 years will probably only result in your voice being ignored for the pessimistic complainer that you are.
It's only logic you know: Individual complains don't have much meaning without good arguments and motivations using logic, design and vision as it's main source.
Perceptions of individuals will not results in changes unless shared by many. Try not be post such emotional pessimistic stories if you want a good discussion that's being heard.
If I were GGG and I would read such insults I would immediately stop reading...

@Startkabels, GGG don't need insults to stop reading.
they just stop whenever there's any hint of criticism, it seems.

and I wasn't always a pessimist. got literally thousands of constructive posts.
seen tenths of thousands of posts more constructive than mine.
did those help put anything into motion, at all?

care about the game? I sure as hell do.
giving meaning to my life? no. I have a job and a family, and I thank god for that every day.
they give meaning to my life, not games and certainly not Path Of Exile.

but being a nerd at heart and gaming fanboy of anything with monsters and characters for over 30 years - that's what keeps me here.
playing. providing feedback. complaining that my feedback is being used as toilet paper at best, and that's *if* they actually bothered printing it.
raging. quitting. coming back. getting addicted again, to the wonderful concepts the game has. getting screwed again, by GGG's fucking god-awful implementation of said concepts. seeing nothing changed. raging...
a vicious cycle that only seems to get worse as time goes by, and yet another patch comes out.

so no, I have absolutely no hope for the upcoming patch/expansion/whatever.
I know GGG. I know how fucking stubborn and reluctant to change anything, they are.
at this point, I'd be utterly shocked if they actually fucking fixed something - anything - rather than just added some monsterz and MTXez and gems and hype, then called it a day.
covered the car with a new shiny coat of color, while doing absolutely nothing about the coughing, dying engine, moaning in pain under the bonnet.

for god's sake GGG, I've given up hope on you ever fixing that engine.
but at least pop-open the bonnet and look at it. prioritize it somehow. and rethink designs. make the game step towards realizing its potential, rather than away from it.
please.

you said it's a game you like playing?
to me it looks like you like playing the Casino and Wall Street more than anything, and have a passion for hiding gaping wounds in need of urgent surgery, under thin bandages.
years of Path Of Exile. dozens of patches going nowhere but "shiny hype".
that's what led me to this inevitable conclusion.

repeating myself again. and getting angry in the process.
fuck this. I don't care. do whatever the fuck you want GGG. you don't give a rat's ass about my or any other feedback, anyway.

The first step in fixing a problem is identifying a problem. We try to point out the problems, and offer possible solutions. GGG rarely acknowledges that a problem has been identified, even if they're actively working on a solution. The one sided communication causes much of the forum tension. When it seems your feedback is falling on deaf ears, the helpful stuff becomes less and less, replaced by snark and condescension.

If you want an example, just look at Arc. The skill was damned worthless for well over a year. It got a buff because Charan advocated for it. And we can also thank Charan for having any clue that they were even looking into it.

It's that sorta deal that causes so much frustration. If the forums were kept in the loop a bit better, the devs might not dislike them so much. It's feedback feedback. Or maybe feedback blowback? I dunno. w/e.

EDIT: Will say, Mark is pretty awesome about communicating. Sometimes the reasoning seems a bit baffling, but at least he'll put it out there from time to time. It's much appreciated.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

200-300% is just how much it is off in map clearspeed.

When it comes to 78 map bossfights or atziri, the numbers get way more off when comparing the ST/LL/Crit Dagger vs. e.g. melee/life/low or non crit one hand and even more if you include 2hand melee or self-casters without LL.

I share that last part about the casino with you but GGG is aware many people share this feeling about the excessive use of RNG. I also feel GGG has been addressing it a bit timidly in the past and it seems something more drastic is needed the changes some mechanics in it's core, like a change to crafting.

And the community is a big source of input for their game to GGG, but maybe this didn't have a good result for your personally. Maybe GGG didn't share your opinion or other players had better suggestions, that doesnt mean that your input is used as toilet paper? I think there are some very good posts in the development manifesto that shows GGG is probably just as concerned about certain aspects as you are...

Some of the major issues are not easily fixed unfortunately and I would happily discuss your concerns after the expansion if you can manage to get a bit more concrete btw.

Lol, by now I think GGG is perfectly aware that specific end game build with Shavs, CoE, Atziri's Acuilty, ST with dagger and crit on LL is pretty OP. I don't worry about this much, sure it will be addressed eventually.

GGG has acknowledged some major concerns in the development manifesto and has shown over and over that they listen by agile development based on community input.

And it's easy for you to tell them to keep the community in the loop because as soon as a dev responds in a topic it explodes. GGG probably doesn't has the resources to do that, but they do post new updates about what they're working on very frequently, which I only can appreciate.

I hope this isn't true.

I mean, i myself have at least on 3 different threads pushed for arc to be improved by more chains over half a year ago.

I really hope that isn't true, because then that just shows how little attention they pay to us, or how little they respect they have for us.

Man. I'm done fucking posting on games forums, they always threat you like shit and never say thanks for you spending hours and hours just trying to show something simple to their thick skulls.

I'm so tired of it, do they think we do this just for lolz? I only post here to improve the game, and i spend many hours, all of that either they sometimes listen, or they don't listen at all it's hard to say.
