Because it is not optimal to use minion damage for highest possible DPS when you are required to change the "worst" dmg providing support gem for a Melee Splash to clear trash/maps. To then change in the most optimal DPS gem for single target boss fights again after. (Minion Damage being a blue gem, whilst added fire which is the gem i'm refering to atm, is red. Just like Melee Splash)

Whats is EE that you told the previous guy toh use with arc lighting+spell totem? :)

EE is the passive elemental equilibrium.
Only reason to use the totem, but very effective.

Is there any reason why we dont use Minion Dmg as gem?
Isnt that doin more damage than added fire gem?

Reason we dont use Minion Damage is that the DPS decrease we get in the switchover to Melee Splash for switching any of the other gems comapred to the differences for swtiching out Added Fire is huge. Whilst the DMG difference between that extra +2 lvls on Added Fire with EE up compared to Minion Damage is minimal.

Don't ever use Faster Casting or Increased Duration gems. They will provide less dps increase than any other support gem you could possibly think of.
