Remove-only stash tab change problems part 3 (thought experiment)

I just did your 'experiment'. Like you, all my tabs are premium. One of my free RO tabs got converted to an ordinary tab.

As stated by many sensible users, RO tabs are free, provided generously by GGG. They should not exist, but they do. Hence when you buy a tab, whether it is a premium tab or not, and if you have any sort of RO tab present, one of these RO tabs will be chosen to be converted over to the appropriate tab you purchased.


Another thought: You have 30 tabs in Standard. You use up all the tabs. You play 4 month league xyz, This stash, all 30 of it is filled too. League XYZ ends. You now have 60 tabs total (30 and 30 RO). As you only play 4 months league, you give your Standard stash a wide berth and never touch it, playing HC for a bit until the new League ABC starts. League ABC starts. You only use 20 tabs. League ABC ends. You now have 80 tabs in standard in total (30 and 50 RO). You buy the premium stash bundle on sale. New total 80, but its now 36:44 RO. The new league UVW starts. You join. You stash tabs in this league UVW available for you to use is now 36. So think carefully before you convert. You may actually have more tabs than you actually need for 4 month leagues!

If you play temp leagues, play temp leagues. Why the fuck do you care what happens in a league you have full of shit you won't use?

If this ad-hoc, poorly thougt out change would be done at OB, when stashes were cleared, then ok. But now many of us have a huge "backlog" of RO tabs, and would need to spend $100+ to "buy them back", without being even able to choose which tab gets converted. Which means it's better to not do anything.

Seems GGG prefers freeloaders that use mule chars and mule accounts to store their items, instead of paying customers who regularily buy tab bundles.

 Aw crap... I was hoping that since all my tabs are premium that if I bought a normal stash tab bundle during this weekends sale I would not get a downgrade of a premium remove-only tab to a full use normal stash tab. That is really a load of crap to actually have a premium tab made into a regular stash tab. What was GGG thinking (obviously not about those buying tabs to expand storage space) with this change? GGG has a problem with race tabs and this is all they could come up with as a fix. What is the saying... something along the lines of "they can't code their way out of a wet paper bag". I fully understand that PoE 1.15 is a tremendously complex program with 1001 different interactions and such but is shafting all the players who want to buy additional storage space but keep their remove-only tabs for the long term the only way to go?

Purchasing tabs increases your allowance of that type. Buying regular tabs will never affect your premium ones (even if they're read-only).

Also, I should clarify that buying tabs doesn't modify race reward tabs.

 Interesting that we are being told that we are getting "FREE" stash tabs in our permanent leagues with the 4 month leagues stash migrating into Standard and Hardcore as remove-only tabs. Yes, our total number of tabs is increasing with this but FREE isn't a correct statement. We okay the 4 month leagues and amass many things, at that leagues end we certainly don't want all that we grind timed to acquire thrown away as it would make playing much less desirable (only ladder board ranking would be the goal). Ok, so GGG takes all our temp league stash and migrates it to parent league as RO tabs that we can:

A. keep as long term storage
B. vendor sell it to consolidate and downsize
C. buy additional new storage space, move it all over to, and eliminate the RO tab.

Oh wait... crap, C is gone and hence the whole problem and mess. These so-called "FREE" tabs of storage can't be used for any new items we acquire so they only amount to long term storage space. It's also interesting (but not in an amusing way) that some players look upon the RO tabs as being temporary and we should sell off or move to normal tabs the contents of them quickly or lose them every 4 months. But what if I'm keeping level 60+ rares in long term storage for the full set of rares chaos recipe? I need to keep these RO tabs long term to be able to tap into for that recipe as I find rare amulets. I'm also sure that GGG would love us to convert all our RO tabs to full use tabs immediately but that just compounds the problem as then we end up with more total tabs in the next 4 month league and at its end those tabs are new RO permanent league tabs and the whole mess gets worse and worse. The whole change to converted tabs instead of added tabs change should never have been made and GGG should have brainstormed and coded another way out of the race tab problem.

BTW: Can anyone explain exactly what the problem is/was with race tabs that Chris alluded to that forced/required the change in new stash tab purchases? I'm fuzzy on the whole race tab problem that could cause players to end up with free tabs to begin with.

How is that a load of crap exactly? If you've bought 30 premium tabs, that's how many you should ALWAYS have. Just because the RO are premium does not mean you purchased those additional premium tabs. The base 30 is all you bought.

You're asking for a free upgrade, which is a load of crap.

 What? No, the RO tabs will always stay as RO tabs, my 30 full use normal tabs stay full use. Where am I asking for a free upgrade. All I expect is that when I buy new premium tabs that they get added as new tabs. So I have 30 premium tabs now and 68 RO tabs. I buy 6 on a bundle sale. I now have 36 full use tabs + my 68 RO tabs. The 68 RO tabs are still RO long term storage space. There is nothing free for me here. If I desire to increase my storage space the RO tabs do not factor in to my full use tabs total. They are just there for long term storage until I use the items up or decide to move them to a normal tab. Nothing more and nothing less. So explain to me where I am asking that the RO tabs to be full use tabs for free?

Hi

Players should have option of right clicking and getting a screen that says erase RO tab? as opposed to clearing it out and then re-loading and its gone.

Having my new premium stash tab instantly full of junk as soon as I entered standard sucks considering it was not full when I bought it at the end of league. I as a player am pretty clean and neat with my tabs and to have my empty tabs become full of mixed stuff that I wanted and not wanted is confusing and time consuming.

Please GGG just leave the stuff in the tabs from one league to the next and let players sort it out by either having the options: of erasing the RO tabs, cleaning out their RO tabs or just leaving them alone, DO NOT simply add some annoying feature that mixes up your stuff via putting it RANDOMLY into empty tabs.
