-- Block Blender 1.2 --

***NEW! Blender 3.0 for the proposed v1.2 Passive Tree***

Build enabling gear

2 Exalt Non-legacy Bringer of Rain (Legacy is prefered but not required)

8 Exalt Corrupted Stone of Lazhwar with 4% Chance to Block, but any Laz is good for 1-10 Chaos you get the needed spell block, the +int can be useful and other corruptions can be nice here as well.

40 Exalt Non-legacy Soul Taker - This is totally build enabling.. the only thing better is a Legacy variant but it is not worth the price.

Rainbowstrides with RRRB or RRGB

3-10 Exalt Doryani's Catalyst - you would need a 350 dps weapon here to perform better

And for a hand full of Chaos Orbs the alternate Main and Off hand weapon, you can use this as your main weapon or keep it on your weapon switch for leveling gems or to switch to in hairy situations for an extra 20% spell block.

Wings of Entropy - either 5L or 6L prefered but dual 3L works perfectly, 75% block & 75% spell block, all right DPS and is uber cheap..

This build is built around having a Soul Taker and a corrupted 4% Block Lazhwar, not required but recommended.

You can also use Wings of Entropy with a minor re-spec of the same tree.

Something to consider, this new build has more leech in the passive tree vs the old tree, several people bring up leech being an issue, I can say I do not need to use a Life Leech or LGoH gem to leech effectively and stay at 95-100% health unless running no regen maps, then I use LGoH, 50% reduced regen maps haven't been a huge issue either as long as you pay attention..

Also, high armor rating is not needed, at all.. This is a high block rate build, most of the attacks that make it through are not going to kill you and leech will fill you up quick, for the boss fights, rouge exiles, heavy hitters, use your leveled End Cry and Imm Call on manual triggers, this is your armor when you need it most.

Blender 3.0 Dual Wield 117pt quick build for proposed 1.2 tree

Soul Taker & Doryani's Catalyst Build

1.2 tree - 40k DPS AoE Molten Strike / 5-5.5k HP / 73% block 53% spell block with corrupted 4% Block Chance Lazhwar

@ lvl 100
35k DPS AoE Cyclone
40k DPS AoE Dual Strike
50k DPS AoE Molten Strike

Bandits
Norm = Oak (HP)
Cruel = Oak (more leech) or Kraityn (more DPS)
Merci = Oak (endurance charge)

Wings of Entropy Build by ogrec
WoE build for 1.2
Very much the same idea and concept as the Soul Taker build, cost to build depends on what you have for gear, ie.. rings, belt, gloves...

ogrec's WoE is a great defensive build and if teamed with Molten Strike provides roughly 40K DPS as is.

Link the following gems all leveled to 20/20% in your BoR.
Molten Strike + WED + Multistrike + Concentrated Effect for 38K DPS.

Conc benefits from 20% quality in this instance since it is a mana based build and the quality on conc provides reduced mana required for skills.

Now for the down side, POE does not provide the AOE tooltip damage from Molten Strike, it's still there, but we can't see the numbers.. that being said we don't see the numeric benefit from Conc, but it's there :) POE builder lets us see the actual damage and believe me, you will feel the difference in game as well..

[/spoiler]

old and moldy 1.1 build and progression

DPS is subjective avg 30-50k self buffed depending on your main skill not including curses.
The build works with several skills - I use Molten Strike, Dual Strike, & Cyclone, you can try other skills but these seem to work best for me.

My current build with current gear looks something like this:
5300 life, 3-4k Armor without aura, all res overcapped at 90-100%, +10 Chaos resistance, 75% chance to evade blinded enemies, 52% block chance, 38% spell block, 30% chance to avoid stun, 20% reduced extra critical damage taken, 280 Life regen per sec. 3% phys life leech, 1% ele life leech, another 5-6% life leech from blood rage.
4.4 APS 32k DPS on cyclone,
7.5 APS 38K DPS on Dual Strike,
7.7 APS 41k DPS on molten strike,

If needed swap in a LGoH for less damage but better survivability, I always have one in my inventory.

Main Offensive Skills

Dual Strike - in a RRRG BoR
Dual Strike + Melee Splash + Multistike + Added Fire

Cyclone - in a RRBG
Cyclone + WED + Added Fire + Concentrated effect
Cyclone is very hard on Mana and should not be used without a Soul Taker.

Molten Strike - in a RRRB BoR
Molten Strike + Multistrike + WED + Concentrated effect

With Molten strike the projectile damage does not show on the tooltip, and concentrated effect does not show any advantage via the tooltip since it affects the AOE damage of the molten projectiles, in reality conc does plenty, nearly doubling the tooltip DPS silently.

Glacial Hammer - in a RRRR BoR
Glacial Hammer + Multistrike + WED + Melee Splash

Cleave - in a RRRB BoR
Cleave + WED + Added Fire + Concentrated Effect

Reave - in a RRBG BoR
Reave + WED + Added Fire + Concentrated Effect

Secondary attack & movement skills
Leap Slam and Whirling Blades
Leap Slam or Whirling Blades depending on your weapons and preference
If you have Doryani's Catalyst & Soul taker
Put Dory in your off hand and link
'Leap Slam + Fater Attacks + Increased area of effect'
in the Dory for a fast leap that hits large mobs with chilled ele prolif from the soul takers chance to chill and cold damage status effects from Hatred aura

If you only have Dory's and no Soul Taker
Put your fastest weapon in your main hand and link
'Leap Slam or Whirling Blades + Faster Attacks + Blood magic'
in the Dory for a leap or dash that hits mobs on a smaller scale with ele prolif from the cold damage status effects from Hatred aura only

If you don't have Dory's or Soul Taker
Put your fastest weapon in your main hand and link
'Leap Slam or Whirling Blades + Faster Attacks + Blood Magic'
in either weapon for a leap or dash that will allow you to move through maps quickly

Vaal Cyclone
Vaal Cyclone + Increased Duration + LGoH + 'Insert gem here' Added Fire or Melee physical or Life Leech or whatever

Defensive Skills

Vaal Molten Shell
Vall Molten Shell + Increased Duration + Concentrated effect + Blood Magic
This skill is especially useful for taking on bosses that have a high rate of attack, like Dom's lightning bug stream, Trinian's whirlwinds, or against a cyclone attack.

Immortal Call & Vaal Immortal Call + Enduring Cry (Manual Trigger)
Immortal Call + Vaal Immortal Call + Increased Duration + Blood Magic

--on another piece of gear--

Enduring Cry + Spell Echo + Blood Magic

Manual trigger on these two for boss fights or whenever useful with a full load of endurance charges

CWDT
CWDT + Enduring Cry + Increased area of effect + 'insert curse here'
I use Vulnerability for the -25% target defences, Temp Chains is nice, ele weakness, etc.

CWDT
CWDT + Enduring Cry + Increased Duration + Immortal Call

Misc Skills

Blood Rage
With 330% life regeneration and some chaos resistance there are no issues running blood rage for a little extra Life Leech

Side with Oak for all difficulties
Normal = +40 base Life
Cruel = +18% Physical Damage
Merciless = +1 Max Endurance Charge

Oak, Kraityn, Skill point or Oak
Normal = +40 base Life
Cruel = +8% Attack Speed
Merciless = +1 Max Endurance Charge

Iron Reflexes for the armor and damage reduction, with blind from the BoR you still have roughly a 75% chance to evade attacks.

Resolute Technique for 100% chance to hit, for leech consistency, and because we are not near enough crit nodes to do us any good anyway.

Lots of life nodes because we don't like getting 1-hit.

There are no weapon specific nodes taken, only dual wield and 1-hand specific damage and block nodes, any pair of 1-hand weapons will do, use blood magic and LGoH until you can use a Soul Taker.
Cyclone is very hard on Mana and should not be used without a Soul Taker.

Spoiler

BoR is the most important item because of the built in 7L, life, armor, eva, 15% chance to block, and blind. Even with IR, your chance to evade is 5% which results in about a 25% chance to hit for blinded enemies.
A non legacy BoR goes for around 2Ex and up, you may find one for less.

Legacy variant is not necessary but use it if you have one.

Spoiler

Soul taker for obvious reasons, decent damage, speed and no mana concerns for melee attacks.
If you do not have a Soul Taker use Blood Magic to support attacks, do not use Cyclone.
Expect this axe to set you back around 40Ex for a non legacy variant.

Doryani's Catalyst hits hard, A high pdps Doryani's is great in itself, it's made even better because of the increased elemental damage which scales really well with the Hatred aura and added fire gem. We also have the lvl 20 ele proliferation which makes use of whatever skill you socket into the Dory and applies the Soul Taker and Hatred Aura's chill effects to that skill.

Stone of Lazhwar + Rainbowstrides give us some spell block and resistances, roughly 40% SB with this build, my reasoning is with BoR you have 75% chance to evade blinded enemies, 30% chance to evade stun from the passive tree, 50% chance to block and 40% chance to block spells.
This is preference only, you can also use life/str/resistance boots and amulet for overcapping resistances and maxing your life pool, and adding more armor or evasion to increase your damage reduction, which can be better overall than 40% spell block.

Rings, gloves, belt.. this is where we'll get our remaining stat points required to equip gear & gems, cap resistances, etc. I would suggest a good life/resist/physical damage/ele damage belt vs a Doryani's heavy belt, best piece I have at the moment.

Skill tree, gems, skills and gear for your enjoyment

Looking forward to see this complete. Much easier to follow this guide than the old one, the broken one...

Is the block chance for spell really that important? Not arguing, just trying to understand better. No armor/evasion from Rainbowstriders, and no life leech, all res and so on from SoJ. Is it really worth it?

Thanks, I'll be working on this a little overnight. I'll probably have less time now that I'm not at work and can actually play :o

Spell block is my preference and has been helpful for gaining endurance charges from the BoR, and surviving higher level or spam spells, but I don't think it's necessary if you go with some nice resistance/life boots and amulet. The Rainbows are good for resistance, spell block, and movement speed only, and the SoL is worthless except for the spell block and intelligence if you need it or a good corruption like attack speed, block or spell block chance, or maybe even +1 to curses.

None of the recommended gear is required, the most important are the BoR and Soul Taker, but you can get by with a Blood Magic gem and a 6L Body Armor at the cost of some damage. I have a new Abyssus that dropped for me a few minutes ago and If I can find one cheap I will be trying it out with a 6L Lightning Coil.

I have no issues leaching enough to keep my health pool above 80% 99% of the time, 2% from the skill tree, 1% from my belt and 1% ele leech from Doryani's catalyst, but if using blood magic I think LGoH would be needed to compensate and there goes 2 sockets and 50% of your damage.

I have a quick question regarding the tree, i took gallantry along with 2 other %increase when dual wielding however when i looked at the tree posted here, it didnt take. i was wondering if i had made a mistake and spent excess points on unnecessary nodes.
What came first Mcdonalds or KFC?
I already got BoR, trying to gather exas for Soul Taker, but it takes some time. Hmm, with Blood Rage the life leech might be enough to handle without LGoH with cyclone, have to test it.

I wouldn't worry about those nodes, they will help you do a little more damage while you level and if you feel like you need the points later in the tree you can always respec with your quest respec points or eat a few regret orbs and do the same.

I'm confused by your molten strike links in BoR. Why do you use faster attack when BoR already provides that support gem?

Also there are 9 pts left after the final skill tree, I was planning on filling out those damage nodes along with the frenzy node in time, the build doesn't need them but if I ever get to lvl 100 they will be part of the tree :o

Just looked it over and you're right, fixed.
I was tired and apparently thinking of my molten strike marauder, sorry about that :)
Molten strike is a funny one that the projectile damage does not show on the tooltip, and concentrated effect does not show any advantage via the tooltip since it effects the AOE damage of the molten projectiles, in reality conc does plenty, nearly doubling the tooltip DPS silently.

I have a quick question regarding the tree..

Hi there, I've notice when you posted your tree in the other thread you haven't taken Resolute Technique, and you've spent too many nodes on resistances.

Try to get better jewellery to fill out your resistances so that you can reclaim those nodes (3 resistance nodes near marauder, 1 near berzerking), all that you need to do then is get one more node by levelling or regret, to get RT.
So many strikes within one breath.
But only one strike needed, for certain death.
