DIED BY DESYNC AGAIN

Blame the players, not the shitty design. WTG!

Sure, we believe ya.
Don't you love it when people say "your a lying bastard, f*ck you" whenever you say you haven't died to desync/don't notice desync? Its really quite ridiculous.

I for one have in fact died to desync, but not often at all. I rarely try to counter desync, and it only effects me when i do something that's obviously gonna cause it (run through giant packs of mobs for example.

Am I blaming players for not learning techniques? No. Its simply a situation we are left in by game design, and is something I am completely fine with.
suggestion to live with less desync!

use shift-click for EVERY ACTION!

when running with the "walk skill" spam the click to better track your position!

use /oos only when needed!

be able to sustain couple hits!

carefull with cyclone and leap slam, and whirling blade, and... omg just be carefull!!1! ;)

pull the mobs than kill them in safety!

change game!

enjoy!

haven't died to desync in more than 6 months and half that play-time was on my cycloner which is the worst desync skill. you must be doing something terribly wrong.
I havent died to desync in a year, but I still find it horribly annoying, thats the point. Why the fuck do people defend desync just because it doesnt kill you? Its there, its annoying, its not supposed to be there, why defend it? Fine, you can live with it and you have told us that you can live with it, now get out of here because not everyone can ignore it like some.

Desync is not a bug, it's a feature.™ Seriously. This isn't some error somewhere in GGG's code; it's an inherent problem with synchronization that has to exist because of network latency.

GGG chose a synchronization model where your actions are executed immediately on the client-side, rather than one where everything you do is delayed by your network latency because you must wait for the server-side to synchronize. The cost of doing this is that you're always slightly out-of-sync with the server. Sometimes, due to a series of unfortunate events, you can become way out-of-sync, but such is the price of not having to wait for the server on everything you do.

Wow, that was deep, and really insightful. I wish GGG would read your suggestion

They've certainly read hundreds/thousands of posts "suggesting" the same thing, yet they've done nothing so we continue to get these threads...and people leaving the game due to desync.

People who think desync can be "fixed" don't understand what it really is and why it exists. Desync isn't something that can be "fixed", only improved. It's not a problem that will ever completely go away, because it's an inherent flaw of the client-server synchronization model they chose to design the game for. Data actually takes time to travel to the server (and back again), and therefore, desync will always exist (for that particular synchronization model).

Sure, you could argue that they should have used the other synchronization model that avoids desync (i.e. wait for the server to confirm everything you do first), but that model has its own flaws, and I don't see anyone actually saying that. All I see are pointless threads like this one, where people say the same thing: "I JUST DIED!!! WHY WON'T GGG FIX DESYNC??!!" Gee, I wonder...

I'm also wondering what really causes the desync, technically speaking, since it seems to be quite variable. Some days I don't notice it a all, and at other times it's quite horrendous.

Chris explains what desync really is here, as well as why they decided to make a game with desync, and what they are doing to improve it: Client-server Action Synchronisation. This should really be required reading for people complaining about desync.

Please just f*cking stop it already. This is not about latency at all. If it was, then we would be desynced for about double latency time maximum, not seconds as it is now.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
played poe since closed beta and deleted it from my system couple of months ago because of the massive desync. its more enjoyable for me to play such a boring arpg like d3 (/yawn) without any desyncs and big lags as the broken poe with this awful network.

hardcore in poe was simply unplayable for me :(

Really? Because I just read an entire post about Chris describing how this game deals with latency, and the desync that occurs when things get far out-of-sync.

No, because you are not resync'd every time you ping the server. It only sends back what you need, not an entire game-state every time.
