Chess game would be nice i personally love that game.
Would be nice ,but for now i think developers should concentrate to the major things mini-games are fun ,but they are not really important. Repent! That's what i'm talking about!

How about a league called "Big Game Hunters" that starts out normally, but with each new area you go into, the monsters always grow stronger.
What I am envisioning is that a group enters an endless dungeon that has some normal monster groups, and 1 "boss" (the big game) per area. the overall "effectiveness" of the monsters and the swarm as a whole increases with every new area the group goes into. (as decided in the dev diary here http://www.pathofexile.com/news/2011-01-24/dev-diary-balancing ). Every new area increases the monster health, strength, modifiers, amount, type, loot drop, etc... forever until you get crazy things like a "boss" that has every modifier possible on it, and is pumped up to be 100x as "effective" as the players it is against. and packs of modified ranged champions to go with it. Ultimately everyone will eventually die and the winner of this league will be decided on how long they survived + how many monsters they killed + how hard the monsters were in relation to them. Rewards will be given out based on this score. I guess that after each area is completed,there will be a reasonable downtime so players can level up, equip themselves with the new loot that they found, assign skills, etc. and maybe even be healed to full? Or partially? Or whatever. |

I'd be surprised if it hasn't been suggested before, but I was too tired to read through 13 pages of suggestions:
Survival/wave-league (much like it was suggested in previous posts, but more 'arena'-like), where you enter an arena of sorts and fight waves of monsters. One arena could contain 25 rounds of monsters, with the 5th, 10th etc. wave was a boss of sorts. Now, after each boss, all monsters receive a new modifier, and each wave up to a boss is a specific type of monster. Now, the next arena would then have 2 modifiers on each monster/boss and so on. Could be done with/without pauses, less/more time between each wave, with/without revives (each pc would be given a revive skill that would have a duration, cooldown and cost), with/without drops from monsters, with/without xp from monsters. |

Am I the only one who got the league idea TOTALLY different? Those are not some mini-games (you still didn't have enough of that from Warcraft custom maps?^^), instead its the whole game with modified rules, from loot drop % to monster power, as well as some extra rules like no vendors("ironman") / permanent death (hardcore) etc. |

A guantlet arcade style league, where your characters hitpoints slowly drain even when not in combat, so it forces you to find monsters to battle so you can refill your flasks and stay in the fight longer.
