PoE needs a difficulty factor setting
These games are about efficiency for many players. Even you apparently, since you bought maps.
Which is why I brought up efficiency in that post you quoted. |

" You're confusing efficiency with extreme min-maxing. Yes, efficiency matters for many players, I'd even say for a majority. I haven't bought maps for min-maxing, I've died 50+ times in my 92+ levels, 10+ times in 96+. So how is my leveling progress an apparent sign of playing the content for the min-maxing is beyond me. That is exactly the same thing when Xavderion and I discussed the efficiency of Torment farming, and yes, after the change which happened right about that time, T6 is in no way more efficient as an item farming difficulty than the lower ones. But it's there for those who like to challenge themselves without paying money for same or being lucky, that choice would yiel you slightly less items but a lot more playability, which someone wants, clearly not you nor Xavderion, but who cares about that, just opinions. And apparently that is a bad thing for you two, with those shitty arguments, and that is fascinating to me. Last edited by tinko92#6447 on May 30, 2014, 8:27:06 PM

" No, I'm talking about the game as a whole. Here is a video interview with Chris from some time back, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Pb4sRdyHU0 (excerpt below starts around the 29 1/2 minute mark.) Excerpt: Interviewer: "Do you have a rough estimate of the time table for moving into open beta and release." Chris: "We're treating it like a soft release...we anticipate not whipping the server after that...so you can view that as a release" It's kind of a wishy-washy answer to the question, and since that interview I've seen nothing released by GGG to indicate that it's a full release. If you google "Soft Release" you get "Soft Launch": which is basically a beta. Also, I find it hard to believe that a peripheral device, such as map drops, is the intended final state of the game for leveling up your characters. If it is, then when Act4 comes out do you expect the static maps of the game to increase in level, or do you expect GGG to adjust the level of the static maps, of A1-A3, so that the A4 End Boss is the level of Dominus, so they can keep the maps dropping? Personally I hope the latter is not their intention. EDIT; correction to my statement "I've seen nothing...to indicate it's a full release." While looking about I did find something saying 1.0.0 was the full release. Last edited by RutRoh#3632 on May 31, 2014, 3:31:57 AM

I expect a difficulty to be eventually removed.

" I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean like remove Merciless difficulty and only have normal and cruel? |

" They have little choice but to do that since they talked about 10 acts with a level span of 100 total character levels, which at the current rate is 32 levels spread out among 6 acts on 3 difficulties (18 essentially). Of course this requires a complete rebalancing of everything, like how the difficulties add resistance penalties and gear/passives/flasks are made to compensate for that. Plus they would need to constantly remake the whole game anyway for every act because act 4 normal cannot be higher level then act 1 cruel... let alone having act 10 normal be higher level then act 1 merciless. |

>Diablo clones
>challenging gameplay Pick one. That's why I don't buy the call for a challenge. I think most people just want to efficiently faceroll monsters and get the most loot per time unit. The path to facerolling is the challenge (theory crafting, overcoming gear issues in races/fresh leagues etc), but the actual gameplay itself? No way. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" The redesigning of the leveling process isn't too difficult. They've already done it once. Administering the res penalties will be interesting. Like, would a boss die and curse you to have a res penalty? There's got to be a way to seamlessly flow the entire game. FWIW, I hate difficulty levels. In this genre anyways. |

" I didn't really give the 10 acts much thought when I heard about it. But the thought I did have was..."are they planning on eventually ramping up the max character lvl to add new higher (than lvl 100) static maps to the game..." |
