Garena is adding skill tree resets as a micro transaction in 1.1.3. Thoughts?
Take a look at the Garena forums and it becomes pretty damn clear why they need this. Other things can be farmed for but when new players fuck up their builds and can't find anyone to trade with or take weeks of farming to fix it or have to just repeatedly start new characters until they get it right, it becomes awfully tedious. We've had a good sized player base since I can remember, even in Closed Beta on the main POE game so you can trade for pretty much anything you ever need. They have almost NO posts on the forum in the new league trade areas.
The trading/selling/shops on the forums has a total of Ambush 190ish threads and Invasion has 9, 9 total threads. Standard and Hardcore have a bit more but no where near what we have here. The learning curve for POE is pretty steep for new players and doing it basically alone, I can't imagine. They don't have our guides, our recipes, our mechanic threads, or any of the helpful things that are available on our forums. Pretty much unless they find this forum they are playing blind and figuring it out themselves - this information NEEDS to be shared on that forum or they can spend the next 3 years letting their players make their own threads and losing players in the meantime. I'll be honest without alot of the information found on our forums in the first 6 months of playing this game, I don't think I would have fallen in love with it as much as I have and the community is a HUGE part of why I do like this game. They don't have any of this there right now. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

" So why not increase the drop rate of regret orbs instead? I don't understand why adding regret orbs to the cash shop should be necessary because there are too few people to trade with. The one thing has nothing to do with the other. |

" Because that doesn't make Garena money. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

TL;DR: "We allow it because money".
:) Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs.
We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right. |

Haha Peachii, yes I've always been amused how GGG vetted Garena. Maybe GGG just wants the money? They say Garena would be able to market the game better in the SEA region, but alas, Garena supports the game very poorly. First time I visited their site at launch, not even a single link to Gamepedia wiki in Gameplay and Help section in their forum. Even now there isn't any. Their moderators and support staff couldn't care less. Some of us here with dual accounts also couldn't care less about supporting the Garena version. Instead, the players there ask for the POE Global version, which can mean either the GGG client proper, or Garena's own global server. Such ambiguity.
If Garena are so desperate at player retention and are having problems as suggested by their respec mtx, maybe some of us should head over there to help out at least in their forums, before Garena decides this venture isn't worth it and pulls the plug? Since we care so much. Heck I'm free this weekend. Adding to this, can't some of the GGG staff help support Garena, at least with gameplay help and direction? I'm not sure if this is contractually allowed though. POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL! Last edited by THEHORNEDRAT#1516 on May 1, 2014, 12:28:06 PM

Well, Xav, Garena still has to turn a profit yes? Running servers isnt free. The hamsters running the wheels supplying the electricity still need to be fed!
It appears Chris still calls the shots on what Garena can and cannot make. Likely this was written into their licensing agreement and GGG likely finalizes and signs off on final gameplay and mtx decisions (in order to obviously protect the reputation POE has with ethical mtxes); as well as Garena paying them a hefty sum in the licensing fee as suggested by Chris implying that Garena helps support GGG's bottom line and help fund gmae improvements. Very likely Garena is running a loss on this game to the point of introducing this pay for respec, in order to have some form of player retention. If their player base is shrinking, they may not make much, and it may be too little to late. So either do we care about Garena's predicament or not? Do we care about POE's standing in SEA or not? should we support Garena or the SEA players? I care more about POE than Garena. Maybe we should entice SEA players to migrate over to the international version then, and show them how to do this, so they can experience POE to its grindiest fullest. POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

" I don't recall it being any different over here. You get quite a few respec points from quests. If you fucked up your build so much that even all those won't fix it, then the amount of currency it would take to do so is hardly worth it, IMO. |

" I was actually thinking about this last night while I was looking over their forums. I actually do care enough for GGG and the support they get from Garena helping to make the development of the game better to spend some time converting all our guides onto that site but only if the information we have here is the same on their client. Last thing I want to do is spend hours converting threads that are wrong because they are an independent client. I'm going to email support about this today and find out if it's allowed and I'll happily spend how ever many hours putting all our gathered information over there to try to help boost the player understanding of the game. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Just made a Garena account. PMed a mod, asking a few questions about policy. Forums and posts sound a lot like players are having to reinvent the wheel. Seems the least those of us who give two hoots in hard vacuum can do is drop in and lend a hand, as Peachi proposes. =^[.]^=
