[2.0] Tempada's AAA EK: An Ethereal Knives Guide | 30-60k+ Non-Crit DPS | Affordable | HC Viable

I've decided that I'm not going to update this guide. I updated my current build, and the tree and gem links work very well if anyone's inclined to follow them. No need for Pledge of Hands (it's nice for the mana and built-in Spell Echo, but wand/sceptre and shield is fine) or Curse on Hit with Lightning Warp (I needed something to do with my chest).

Mana sustain is now a bigger issue if you want to use EK non-stop (at least in a 6L). I recommend Cantrip's Scion guide if you want something with a little more mana potential (lots of gem slots), and he has some nice suggestions for added survivability (Blood Dance + frenzy charges and using a dagger to make use of Whirling Blades + Fortify).

Nice. Looking forward to that. I just started playing the game for the first time three days ago, where I made a Shadow and EK was immediately the spell i had the most fun with from the beginning.
Found your thread yesterday and have been using it as inspiration since - and a update for 2.0 would be much appreciated for me.
Why you take so many nodes for elemental damage when EK is a physical damage skil??

Welcome to the game! EK is one of my favorite spells, and I hope this thread helps.

Good question. EK deals physical damage, which is unusual for a spell, and it allows us to significantly boost damage with gems like Hatred, Herald of Ash, and Added Fire Damage. Those gems all give added elemental damage, so elemental nodes on the tree increase that damage further.

I like the level requirements of the spells to match up for efficiency. Lvl 12 Summon Sekeletons, lvl 13 Frost Wall, and lvl 9 Warlord's Mark all have a level requirement of 48, which means they can be cast by a lvl 6 CwDT. My CwDT gem is actually 7, but really it should be level 6.

what jewels are u using ?? and would be best for lvling. Thks for the build btw :)
I want to start Shadow in HC, should I go for Armour/evasion gear towards merciless? Not sure how much ES you can build up and if it's worth it with the -50% from Acrobatics. Evasion/ES might be the a better choice all together though since the shield slot alone will provide 150es (after the -50%) in which case you can just invest more and build a decent pool.

Also what's your opinion on Cybills paw instead of a dagger?

Last but not least, is revenge of the Hunted worth it for a HC char? only 1 node off and Evasion+health is really nice and it also provides 12% phys dmg
