Veil of the Night - Making a Build with it! Double Check my Theory Craft!

I'm gonna make a build involving the above items. I found these same items on my own so it's self found ownage =p

Anyways, the premise of this build will be Cast on Stun and Cast on Damage taken.

OBVIOUSLY the goal is not to defeat uber atziri, the goal is to do magic find dominus runs. Which will be easier to specialize in since ele resists is completely a non issue (Advarius anyone?). My primary defense stat will be block and stun recovery, movement speed, blind, buffed up flasks, temporal chains, enfeeble, evasion, arctic armor, and block.

Yes this is an evasion character and I'm aiming to get a queen of the forest once at level 60 to synergize with the immortal flesh belt to help protect from being overwhelmed by physical damage but primarily for the movement speed bonus. Which I think I can get about +20% from the chest unless my math is wrong. The goal of this character is to run straight through the sceptre without fighting and kill dominus again and again.

Manual Cast skills:

A) Glacial Cascade
B) Tempest Shield
C) Molten Shell
D) Smoke Mine
E) Vulerability
F) Punishment

Cast on Stun/Damage Taken skills:

A) Glacial Cascade
B) Arc
C) Shock Nova
D) Fire Storm
E) Ice Spear
F) Arctic Breath

Battle plan:

A) Cast Molten Shell
B) Cast Punishment/Vulerability onto enemies also reflecting it onto self.
C) Spam Glacial Cascade whose physical component will slam into my molten shell causing it to explode and also triggering cast on stun and damage taken spells.

Why Veil of the Night:

Veil's 0 elemental resist stat synergizes with Shackles of the Wretched in that it greatly increases the chance that I'll get stunned by all spells while also offering a bit of protection from being chain frozen or insta shock stacked before I can use a flask.

Well do you approve? =p Or am I just off my rocker here on the theory craft

It's in ambush. I say go for it and make it a CoD team play built if everything else is futile. :D

Only item I might ditch is the shield. If you use it for the IIR mainly, then it's okay.

I really don't see how you won't die to Elemental Damage, most specifically the Voiddoges on the way to Dominus, and Dominus himself.

Even if you could perfectly dodge all of his 'Light of Divinity's, and didn't desync on them as well, there is still his ghost beam. And even with Phase Acrobatics, that is going to HURT.

And I don't see the point of Molten Shell, unless you meant Vaal.

With Cascade, you will have to be in melee to medium Range to deal the best Damage, and that makes you vulnerable to getting caught unawares by his ghost beam.. :S

I think it's a fun idea, but I don't think it'd help you with Dominus. Feel free to prove me wrong. But there's loads of better ways to do Dominus.

You're going to be taking a TON of elemental damage, so you're going to have to be able to withstand that. I know it's outside of your self-found motif, but I would say you'd do ok with a Cloak of Defiance (40% of damage taken from mana) and get a huge mana pool with lots of regen. That would also allow you to get a high level of Arctic Armour going, which will help a lot with the void dogs (how much I'm not sure with 0 fire resist though). But with quick mana replenishment, that 40% damage is recovered really fast. I would also say you'd better get as much block and spell block as you can.

If your resistances stay at zero no matter what, then come Merciless you'll actually have higher than average chaos res.
Why would you use such a combination?

CWDT/CWS is not a reliable system to build around, and only really offers something if you add it into a build.

I'd like to know how you do, but I doubt it'll do well.

Either way, good luck.

You casting a spell won't "slam" into your anything.

You might want to rethink C.

Fun. Novelty. Interest.

This forum is full of grinches.
You could also Curse yourself with Temporal Chains, and use Vaal Immortal Call, and go an afk/CwS Build, and hope your Souls recharge before the buff runs out... :S

nope. veil only applies to elemental resists, so your chaos is still -60. so yes, it IS a piece of junk. the great thing is that it's easy to find great helmets andturn it into 5 chance orbs which is the only thing it's good for.

purity of X _DOES_ work with it.

veil of the night is the most troll piece of gear ever put into any game in all of gaming history.

yes, worse than crown of thorns. at least that gives you pain attunement.

i mean it wasn't enough that they nerf your resistances in a game that is unplayable without max resists, but then they give you reduced light radius ? WTF^2 ?! oh and armor of 53 and ES of 16. seriously ?

the only way to use that thing is to run 4 auras, PoE, PoF, PoL and PoC.

Then you'll have at least somewhat reasonable resist.

ok - then what ? give me max resists and i still wouldn't want to use that piece of junk.

reduced light radius. so troll. talk about an april fool's joke.

Wait....the purity auras still work with this? So I guess it just removes all resists from other gear? That makes quite a difference then. If true, you could get aura nodes and run the Purity auras and still make it to max resists assuming max is 75 and not 0. That 20+% increase to defenses would be quite nice then. Where else can you find a 20% increase to Energy Shield?
