"This loot system is flawed and needs to change!!"
" I'll beat a dead horse drum too. I'm just afraid we're not beating the same one. I cannot remember if it was you that made this point but: how does giving the option for 'real' instanced loot screw up the economy if you already instance your loot in a friendly party? You may enjoy FFA but we do not. Giving us an option to make it instanced will not take away your possibility to play FFA. I'd rather be observant and responsive to what my enemies do than observe what my 'friends' do. And just to highlight what you just said: because a majority of people don't want to actually think about it Again can't remember if it was you to make the argument about how FFA-likers are the silent majority but: if the majority doesn't run public parties because they don't like the way the loot system works, how can PoE call itself a multiplayer-game? I beat cruel, ruthless and merciless and all I got were some maps.

" But is it not true? Isn't this what you people have been saying this whole time? |

So most of you guys are down for my idea since we want better party play we should make a thread in suggestion that would be about including mario party style mini games for the loot.

I believe something needs to change, but not sure that I want them to spend too much of their precious development time on reworking the loot system completly. I'd be happy with the timer being increased to about as long as it takes for us to finish off a particually nasty rare maybe 30-60 seconds. That way if I'm "that guy" that doesn't pick up his loot my team can come back after the fact and mop up.
This change would do the following: First, I'm not disenaging from the fight to loot, which causes uneeded risk to the party and myself. Second, My team members are not disengaging from the fight to hover over loot that has someone else's name on it waiting for the timer to wear off. And then if after the timer goes off you loot something without your name on it no one can call you a ninja..... Last edited by nimbukie#7435 on Jan 30, 2013, 6:00:37 PM

" There is "no way it is", because it changes all the time. Heck it was very different just a week ago. I sure hope GGG keeps improving PoE. " OK, you just made me try public parties again. I'll see how it goes. No promises though. [EDIT: fixed quoting] I beat cruel, ruthless and merciless and all I got were some maps. XBone: the beginning of the end. I'd like to see loot options added to the screen when the party is formed. Playing with pick-up-groups is a real downer when you get your stuff looted, especially in large groups of mobs. If I'm tanking to keep you from dying, it's a real shitty thing to do. Asking me to stop tanking to run across the screen to loot is silly.

" I agree with this completely. I am not advocating instanced loot or anything similar, the base of this system is fine by me, however timer needs to last longer indeed. Last edited by Hadrijan#1662 on Jan 30, 2013, 6:06:00 PM

" Uhhh... You get a gigantic quantity bonus for being in a party that often results in more overall loot, I'm pretty sure that is a textbook definition of a benefit. Fighting over loot instead of killing? You do realize you have to kill something for it to drop loot correct? The mobs in this game don't surrender their treasure on sight yet. This applies to both Leagues past Cruel, if someone is manly enough to 'Ignore the Monsters' and dive in to risk their character or hours of playtime for a piece of loot, more power to them. Acting like it takes 10 minutes to loot something is propagating this "loot instead of killing" facade. All of my characters are ranged, I actually feel like I am at an advantage more often than not because I get timer extensions. |

" While you run to your loot simply cast an Enduring Cry and the mobs will follow you. |

loot system is archaic, with the huge amount of people online, completely broken chat and trading forum the game has changed.
I am lucky i made a lot of freinds during closed and we help each other out, make own loot parties and trade gear. In closed beta virtually EVERY map party had the opening line "MAPS TO OPENERS, LOOT BY NAME". This was what the highest level, experienced players wanted. If i didnt have a good freind base and farming knowledge id make tanks that can sit in the front line, take damage and steal other peoples gear; it does nothing to improve the playability, fun or anything else. OPTIONS. Sadly, i think ggg has gone too far down the road to give options, so the only fix is to increase timers. |
