Vaal Oversoul on Merciless
" Nope you are right, when he starts doing the rock thing is an excellent opportunity to run u to his face and do some serious DPS because the rocks don't hit you there. Just be sure not to stand on the same side as his smash arm. Once he starts to turn his torso repossition yourself so he doesn't hammer smash you to oblivion. Once you master Vaal's mechanics he is actually a very easy boss to defeat. |

Pre-pot granites during rocks or just have more hp or higher lvl in general. I think 60 is way too low and 1500hp even more so.

Hmm, well I haven't had any problems with this amount of health before though, I mean it takes normal mobs quite a few hits to kill me, it just struck me as odd that the falling rocks did more damage than anything I encountered before.
Current health/ES after getting to lvl 61 is: 1734 / 806 I also took at least 11 life increase nodes, as I didn't want to ignore defense. Though, like I said, this is the first time I got hit so hard, so this just feels like an exception, as I do fine with the amount of HP in general and it never felt like my survivability was too low. Quite a few pieces on my gear have +HP as well, so I'm not sure what a realistic amount of HP would be at this lvl for a Witch. Freezing Pulse and a Spell totem as extra's. Support gems I regularly have to switch around when situations demand it, due to not having enough linked sockets (and since I don't feel like wasting any fusions at this time). Gear: " Don't misunderstand though, I'm not complaining, merely wondering if anyone else felt like the damage was too high. :) Edit: Made it to Act 3 and currently going fine. Damn just got effectively insta-killed by rocks on my 67 with 2400 ES. 3 rocks fell on me as I was running (had granite on at time) and since its 200 ping they had already hit me before I had even seen the animation :(

I did it with a summoner build.Very easy.
As for the rocks, granite flasks. They are pretty rare so keep your eyes focused on finding one. |

Had granite flask running and I was moving, not standing still. Insta killed by rocks without being able to react since they appear to hit you on 200 ping before the gravel animation actually shows. I wish this game had basic lag compensation then most these descyn/latency related deaths wouldn't even happen.

" I'm lvl 49 and have 1700 hp. |

Well I've practiced this a bunch of times now and found it's way easier to just stay pretty close to vaal and be basically in melee distance when the rock phase begins. I haven't had a run yet where the rocks fell on me when I was in melee distance so I'm not sure if perhaps there is a minimum range or that I just got lucky.
It also seems to be way easier for me solo than in a group due to the bloated hp resulting a longer fight which basically = higher chance of dying so I guess next time I'll just solo Vaal. |
