Please add loot rules. (Need or Greed, FFA, Loot Timers, etc.)
Currently I and many others can't play in a public party and still have fun. The reason is because of FFA loot. I understand many people find the idea of 'stealing' the good loot as quick as possible fun, but I don't. I would much prefer the simple roll system that many other games use. When a valuable item comes up you can Need, Greed, or Pass. You might be wondering what's stopping someone from need rolling everything? Well quite simply they would be kicked by the leader pretty fast.
Now keep in mind I'm asking for loot rules, not an overhaul of the loot system. The party leader could still set rules to FFA if they so desired. Meanwhile the people that want to actually focus on killing stuff and helping the party can because they don't have to get ready to ninja every piece of gear that drops. There is no reason the only option for looting is this archaic system from the 90's. Yes many people enjoy it, but many people also enjoy playing civilized. There is absolutely no reason that so many should be denied the joy of public parties because it's a grab fest. The only thing FFA only looting is doing to your game, GGG, is reducing your audience.(and income as a result). Just to be clear, I completely respect that some people like FFA looting. But people who like fair and honest systems, like Need or Greed, should have there opinions respected too. Last edited by Shrimm#7396 on Jan 28, 2013, 7:45:25 AM

I personally wouldn't like a Need/Greed style for this game, however I do agree with you that there needs to be a change.
The 5 seconds you have to grab your item is, quite frankly, not enough time, especially when in a room that has a ton of monsters. I play a ranged character, so if something for me drops I have to run into the swarm of enemies to grab my loot. My suggestion is if they are going to have certain drops be for specific players, then that item should have no timer at all, it can only be picked up by the person it is for, and if they don't want it they can always drop it down after looking at it. If there must be a timer on it, then make it 30-45 seconds. This amount of time will allow the room to be cleared and the loot to be grabbed by the rightful owner. I don't know if this is the best way or not, but something has to be done, because with 5 seconds on a timer you get people more focused on stealing loot than playing as a team. |

" I personally don't like personalized loot in any form in a game like this, But to each there own. That's why we need loot rule options. With loot rules you could even have options to set the specified time an item is reserved in FFA from say 0-60 seconds. As long as instanced loot never comes to play loot rules would be a great addition. If anyones wondering why, instanced loot are by far the optimal choice and would overshadow every other type of loot. And in my opinion, instanced loot doesn't help to promote party play. Bump. Would really like some opinions on the topic. Of all the loot overhaul threads I've read they always shaft part of the playerbase. Which is what I'm specifically looking to avoid.

The orbs must not have timer at all, they must be only available to pick by owner. The orbs is the currency of the game. Why would someone don't need the orb? Right! He just wasn't fast enough to pick it up while 5 sec timer.

That will still create bitter feelings. Why is anyone more worthy of getting that GCP drop over anyone else? It can breed resentment.

I hate to say it, but I +1 the main idea of the OP.
It would be nice if parties had a few choices in regard to loot. Need or Greed, FFA, Loot Timer, and whatever else would all be great to be able to choose. I like the current loot system just fine but the fact of the matter is that thousands of PoE's users DON'T like it and there really is no reason why we should limit ourselves to one loot system. |

" I imagine in a need or greed loot rule setup currencies would be auto rolled on for everyone, giving everyone a fair shot at getting it. As for FFA or loot timers, that would be up to the party leader. He could choose to make no timers and everythings up for grabs. Or he could set the timers length, from say 0 seconds to a minute to permanent. The whole point is to give options so people can play in a party how they want to. If you want complete free for all on loot, so be it. If you want long or short timers Great! and if you want a roll system you can have that too. " A need/greed loot system is not exclusive to WoW, nor is that where it originated from. Next time, if you want to discuss something, thats awesome. But don't post in a thread where you didn't even read the FULL original post and go trolling. There's no need for you to act like an entitled twit. Loot right now is bad and unfair.
I kill Vaal 30 items drop i dont even see my drops, i click like crazy on everything not even looking what it is or whos. It should be more time. And i think that party leader set rules - is OK. Leave cuthroat feeling to cuthroat legaue. and btw. In teams all bossess are to easy its like they dont deal dmg anymore, fight is just longer. IGN: Lodowka_BezChleba - hardcore essence
