Ok it's either me not explaing well or..

The game does not need to know anything, it just need to reward you all the time.

When you you dont have crafting progesstion here is how you feel:

1.Craft and get what you want[successful craft], you feel good.
2.Craft and fail, it's okay i am going to get more orbs.
3.Craft and fail fail fail, you do not feel good because you did not get what you want and you are poor now.

4.Farm and get a nice drop[good rare/good unique/tonOForbs] [fine drop] you feel good.
5.Farm and get only few alts, it's alright you gotta continue.
6.Continue farming with only alts gains that are going to be wasted anyway, you do not feel good.

Okay, now we have some thing called crafting experience which you gain no matter what.
(haven't read the thread, excuse me)

Why would you get crafting experience for finding (not crafting) items?


Also, agree with biralo there.
The ones who complain about crafting and loot wouldn't benefit nearly as much as those who craft already.
And we all know that it wouldn't work too, legacy items as a reminder.

So, your 20% crafting knowledge would improve crafting, how? Would it decrease the possibility of low tier mods by 20%?

but it should have more than just a XXXX-hours-played base.

something like "XX high level bosses killed" (with extra bonus if solo), and/or "XX characters over level Y in account" (extra bonus if more than one league).
give people more incentive, than just grinding low-risk for days on end, while at the same time making it at least partially "risk/reward".
