Vaal Oversoul is the best designed fight in the game

And with good enough gear, you can very well facetank the slam as well. But I agree, him and Dominus are examples of how fights should look like. It's REALLY hard to out-gear them both.

The problem with Dominus is that it is a gear check. Vaal is not a gear check, you can beat him with 1 hp at level 1 if you got godly reflexes. Dominus cannot be beat that way.

I was just surprised to hear that someone can 100% avoid laser shot.

If your melee then you attack when he is either

A. summoning minions
B. throwing ice
C. spamming rocks

All other instances you run around like a retarded chicken who just had it's head chopped of.

This is how you avoid getting a laser shot.

I also agree with shags on this one, the fights are cool (dominus needs better telegraph moves imo so we know whats comming) but when you compare them with the content behind it, it is not very balanced.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Of course.
Second laser in a row is deadly, not the first.

I haven't not in fucking melee anyway lol

As melee or any ranged character, the first laser shot is the hardest one to avoid. For the rest of them, just run in a circle to avoid them. The first laser shot is avoided by knowing how long time Vaal does his other skills, then just as he is about to switch skill, you start running in circle.

This way, without knowing what his next skill will be, if it is a laser you'll avoid it because you are in circular movement, if it is another skill, you can start dpsing.

Nope, if you have godly skills, you can get some melee hits in between each laser. It is about rhythm. Also if you are godly, you can sidestep the demolition ball easily and attack vaal while he does animation.

After the buffs to life you can facetank even maze vaal's smash now.

I got oneshotted by him with 2 endurance charges and 4K life, iirc. I have more life now, I'm in softcore so I might go test him out a bit :D

You need about 6500-7000 to survive maze vaal's smash, assuming he doesn't have +damage affixes.

Eh, probably a lot less with enfeeble(only 1/3rd effect on bosses) and granite, probably 5k will do.

Correction: Vaal would be the best designed fight in the game if not for desync slam. That fucker has one shot me so many times trying to leapslam away from his ground smash...I don't even bother with him anymore. Dominus is nothing but a gear check, and all the map bosses are either so easy its pathetic, or another massive gear check. So, i give the title to piety. No one shot mechanics, and a fight you can actually win with skill instead of gg.

While it's a good fight, the game needs to be balanced so that beating them in HC doesn't make the rest of the game boring. That's the problem I'm facing with Dom... you end up so powerful to take him on that the whole next act is pointless. Similar problem with the Oversoul... you don't find the first areas of Act 3 challenging.

The difficulty curve needs smoothing out.

Clearly you've never faced Perpetus.
