You can easily 'link' your items into postings, you know? Sadly, its not possible to do the same in PM's yet - not even manually 'by hand' (copying from a posting)
you mean in-game ? in chat? imagine browsing through the chat looking for an item in thousands posted.

Of course I meaned in the forum, refering to what you mentioned above. (But of course you can also link items into the ingame-chat - and I totally agree with you that this will be very confusing and hard to keep track soon. IMHO an ingame 'trade preparation' (on a trade chat channel) is mainly only useful for searches and requests (WTB); offers are well better placed in a kind of gallery, like its done yet in the forums trade sections. Probably the pre-announced public stash pages can be an addition to that.

But, (again IMHO) - we'll need to easify the further handling of the trades, need to combine trade prearrangement with a possible offline execution of the trade.

And the forums? I don't want to be forced to trade inf forums and it's still not searchable. i'd still have to go manually through pages and pages of post, just to find an item, and mostly find the post outdated anyway.

At least if the item is linked (what I assume), you will alwys see if its still available; same would be the case if you place your offers into a public 'personal stash page' - as long as the item is visible there, it can be requested.

This is bad. A searchable board in-game would serve simmilar goals as the forums, but would be more user friendly without being any less personal than forums. You still need to talk to the person that posted an item but it is much easier for you to find that item and that person!

I never said nor thought that the trade should only happen in the forum! Of course you need abilities to access everything trade-releated also from ingame. But I dont want to be forced to wait for a partner if everything is 'clear' - simple example: lets say I need a specific gem, and (now) ask for it online (to get it fast). Say I'm willing to pay a Chaos Orb for it and I'm lucky and find a mate that accepts the deal: fine and done in 1 minute. Whats the difference (in terms of trade handling), if this would be possible offline too: I request the gem and offer the orb, and wait. Then, at any time until I cancel, everyone can accept my call and 'insert' the gem for me. Next, when I also accept the deal finally, its done and the items are exchanged - doable with or without being online on any time, without having to schedule between both traders worlds...

its a must to have an offline (means the player/players dont have to be online/ingame) trade mechanic, that has to affect the ingame world too.

Board+ability to leave offline messages + maybe a mailbox trade system.

Thats not the question and was never excluded: the problem is, do you need to meet your partner ingame in any case, even if it would not be really neccessary?

you made a simple example - what if you want to trade a high-end armor and want a nice item in return? it would be difficult to specify all the needs for this item you want, since there are many possibilities - so you post up you item and wait for people to offer you something - you need to talk to them and negotiate, or pick the best offer. And all done in-game. Wouldn't that be nice? It would be a nice use for the town board as well, giving it a realistic feel.
