How do you heal with Ancestral Bond?

Just managed to get to 51 (the level req of the Life Leech Gem I have).

And my spell totems only heal themselves, not me.

Was I being daft, assuming the totems would life steal for me as well?

What a damned disappointment though...

Any ideas how to proceed? I am still figuring the game out, and wanted a templar/blood magic/storm call totem thing going on...

It was going swimmingly, but now I am not sure how I am going to survive later on?

Which would be fine, if I was able to, but with Ancestral Bond you can't deal damage yourself, only with totems.

Hence, my initial assumption.

Well, I am now in limbo. Had a plan, and it's all in shambles now.

Are you using a wand? Could do something like power siphon + gmp + chain + LGoH, and use that yourself. LGoH to heal yourself; culling and power spheres from the siphon are nice too. Only need level 1 power siphon.

Well, it does need some drawback.

You can go with regen and flasks, as a dual totemist you don't get hit much, enemies go for totems most of the time so it's usually enough.

Heh, I thought this was a great idea, but did it for Ice Spear. Which is a spell, not an attack. I am an idiot.

Reason being that I was hoping to use a staff.

You can always cast totems with the staff and swap to a wand and link a power siphon there, but you'd get only PS-LGoH-GMP. I'd get a low level and fast bow as weapon swap and go with LA.

Alternatively, if he has enough keybinds available out of QWERT LMB MMB RMB, he can stick it in his boots, helm, or gloves and then just have it "Unable to use skill" half the time
