Will the desync ever be fixed?

Just a question: How does Riot's LoL have that smooth and responsive gameplay?

It cant be the budget as in D3's case. Also compared mostly 1 person max 6 person action in PoE; LoL has 10 people in action with much more action going on too. Its targeting system is both location and unit based. Also it has path calculations. And action speed is at least as fast as PoE.

What is so different in LoL that it does not suffer from desynch like PoE? Maybe their success in that field could be tweaked in PoE. Because when PvP starts here it will be all trap vs totem vs flicker vs shift-click blind bow/ice spear; as neither of them requires player skill.

I hope they can grab some hints from Riot before PvP patch hits servers.

I'm no expert, but apparently games like LoL and DotA use a different client-server interaction system than PoE.
In PoE, your client predicts what will happen before it actually happens to the sever (and in most cases will predict correctly). That way you won't have any delay when playing, all your actions will happen instantly on your client.
LoL, on the other hand, waits for the approval from the server before anything happens. So the client doesn't have to predict what will happen on the server, hence no desync, but you have a delay for every input because you have to wait for the data of your input to travel to the sever and back.

According to GGG, this kind of system does not work very well with a fast paced, action packed game like PoE (or any another ARPG).

The thing is, many games that (mostly properly) use prediction use it very minimally and don't try to predict days into the future (which inevitably fails).

I will neither agree, nor disagree with your satement because I don't know enough about this kind of stuff to do so. I was merely trying to explain why LoL does not suffer from desync while PoE does.
I like how people defend poe cuz its so much happening on the screen therefor desync, have u guys checked out d3:ros ? Theres like a billion stuff going on and screen is full with spells mobs moving etc... even d2 is like this and i never noticed desync with 8 players and 56k modem back in the days now i have 100/100 and desync to 10 mobs on screen that use no spells just autoattack/charge

But i guess people like to defend stuff thats free
I've actually noticed a huge reduction in desync. However, this is based on a comparison of playing a Frenzy Crit Ranger on Standard firs, then a summoner Witch on Domination later, which may bias these results. I used to get 5-10 desyncs / hour during continuous farming, now it's around 0-1 / hour.
To be fair, I also have a reduction in desync from when I first started playing during closed beta. That was because I am in China and there was no Singapore or Australia server at the time (btw, how soon til the Singapore server is dropped? At least give us the courtesy of knowing when we're gonna be fucked again). The game was completely unplayable, I uninstalled it, and came back hoping it would be improved after a year or so.

SO, it has gone from completely unplayable to "I can play this but still get frustrated as fuck by it." I don't know when Chris wrote his little screed, but I'm assuming it was after I had already quit the game so I can't comment on whether they fulfilled their end on this.
Then again League of Legends is easily hackable. There's a new bot that comes out with every patch which the majority of the top ranked players use. It has a function to cause a lag spike every time it detects that a hero hits you, resulting in them only being able to hit you once.

I rather have desync and have to play in softcore than that.

It used to be that people wanted a good gameplay experience from a game. When did that change?

They dont want to fix desync and they dont fucking care... they dont even give us a /oos macro
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it
ofcourse they dont care /sarcastic...you are mad/burned out sexcalibure? btw /oos still works (every 10 seconds)...

And you dont think they would fix it if they could...pls dont answer go out and get a better mood until you come back to poison the forums...

i had a poe burnout too already, its normal after playing a game over 2 years...but to say they dont F care, i think you did know thats not true when you wrote it...

well if you read a bit more, you would have seen that they were even handed out a partial part of solution but they said it would take too much time to implement in current code. So yea, they COULD fix it if they wanted to WORK HARD...

Numbers are already showing this decline... It was happening in beta as well when it went OB, but the release stopped that "spike" and now it's starting all over again...

It is a natural procedure that video games are loosing players over time.
Let me guess: In 20 years from now nobody might play PoE anymore, but will that be due to a lack of quality?

Hey bro, i didn't write that!
