Real Talk: Spectral Throw
ST is overrated as main skill, best dps is through cast on crit and the rather stupid design of CoC.
It is a decent spell and it is the no1. spell for melee since it literally counters all the weak points in a melee build, ranged AoE. There are times when melee simply fails , is clunky and doesn't work, than you can fall back on ST without the need to swap your weapon <- this is where the value comes from. At end game you see more and more people using ST as a secondary skill or primary if combined with CoC. |

why?
I always use ST with GMP and faster projectile to clear the room or crowd. Also ST is very easy to use in group, where you can barely see anything. reflect is non-issue since the hits are very small. On a crowd ST hits multiple enemies. Your group normally can clear whites or blues easy. In an open area (like Ledge/many maps) my ST come back after many seconds, imagine how far it traveled :) BUT you always have something else when any survivor (or rare/boss) show up in your face. a single most damaging skill of your choice. for me it is Heavy Strike (supported by whatever most damaging I can get). ST is not meant to be used alone, imo. |

spectral throw is fine imo, the damage is a bit shit but its ranged... thats how bows work, their damage is complete dogshit but they can chain/multiproj so they can hit multiple enemies multiple times from a distance with 1 shot, and that goes some way to giving them 1/2 to 2/3 of the effective damage of a toe to toe melee.
Its fantastic for the game because it doesnt compete with melees damage but it gives melee another ranged skill they can use as a backup because theres monsters in the game that are ok for ranged but stupid hard for facetanking at point blank. Like groundslam its fun for levelling, works well, not great endgame but can work with the right gear, build and playstyle. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" I'm not saying ST can hit each enemy only twice. I'm saying that in a setup where ST can hit enemy more than twice, the total DPS in the long run might not be that much different from a straight damage setup. Self-limiting? I'd pushed my ST tooltip DPS to 26k, 45k with Abyssus, what'd you got? Standard IGN: WTFNamesAllTaken. Online everyday at 10 AM CST and at several different hours throughout the day. Best way to reach me is via forum PM. If you're looking for a deal, do your homework and make a decent offer. If I have to set a b/o via request, it will be non-negotiable. physical ranged always had shit options for supports, thats not a specific spectral throw problem.
