UPDATE with STORM CALL version!

Based on the Triple Arc Build that I have showed you below, I have implemented a triple Storm Call Totem with dual curse.
This has been implemented based on the skill tree reset for one of the major patch updates available so I do not have an exact guide how to level it from 0 although you can follow a standard guide for any triple totem build.

Main advantages of Storm Call totems vs Arc Totems:
1. AOE - not having to target just 3 monsters and, instead, casting on area is HUGE advantage. You will eat up monsters a lot faster.
2. Less Mana needed.
Storm Call has a base mana consumtion of 18@lvl20 while Arc will have 32. The totems mana cost scales accordingly. If i needed 1.3k+ mana on the arc build, I can do with 1k mana fine on the storm call build.
3. Higher effective damage output. My listed dmg is of ~1.4k per call. And I do 4+ calls per second for each totem. All that dmg is applied on an area, so the effectiveness of Storm Call is visible with the naked eye, if you watch videos from both builds.

One little disadvantage over arc is that you wont shock as much. However this can be compensated by getting Static Blows which I think it's kind of mandatory. With it you can have over 40% chance to shock if your crit chance is decent enough. On my char I have 18.5% from crit and an additional 25% shock chance from nodes.

1.I'll list pros and cons for this build


Pros:
-LOTS OF FUN :)
-fast clearance passe of maps, even 70+ ones.
-can be adapted form MF.
-very rare desync problems.
-pretty high survivability
-u do not have to invest tons of currency in gear.
-parties will love u because u double the dmg output fore evryone with 3x Shock on everything.

Cons:
-this build rellyes on ES regen no leech involved, so no tanking.
-because of the above u will have a hard time with a few map bosses.
-if u like to be in the first line this is not ur build.


2.Why ARC and not Spark?


Arc is probablly the most underestimated spell in the game. People think it ca only be used for shock. Well it actually kills extremly fast if used corectly. Spark has been nerfed together with Shock (down from 40%/stack to 30%). The biggest advantage ARC has over spark is that ALL HITS CONNECT :). Spark loses a lot of projectiles that time out(if u are in an open area map...then u are probably losing half ur projectiles). Number of targets, by default, is 3 for both. Arc is not stopped by edges(this is huge). It means that, if there is line of sight, it will connect.


3.Build&Tree design


I've designed it in beta times, when sporkers reigned supreme, just because i wanted to be different. It was a good build back then and now it's even better.

U will need to run 3 totems this mens that Soul Mantle and Ancestral Bond are mandatory. For dual curse ull need Whispers Of Doom. This build tries to get the most dmg output out of acr totems. The best way to achieve that is to have max number of totems and to obliterate monster lightning resistance.

To get the lightning resistance down u need Lightning Penetration , Conductivity and Elemental Weakness. All this 3 stacked can lower monsters resist by up to 135%. Please note that Penetrations mechanics are diffrent from that of the curses.

At lvl 20, u get 49% lower resist from Conductivity and the same from Elem Weakness. If u go q20, Elem Weakness goes to 59%. Penetrations stays at 39%. q20 gets u 10% more lightning dmg for this one.

Main skill should be something like this in a 5l 6S Soul Mantle:
ARC + FC + Lightning Penetratione + Elemental Proliferation + Crit Dmg.
Keep in mind that Soul Mantle offer u the totem support at lvl 14 so u do not lose an extra socket.

U need to focus on Crit nodes, Lightning dmg, some ES nodes and a few mana nodes. The exact nodes can vary. Just make sure u get Ancestral Bond / Whisteprs of Doom / Infused Shield / Shamanistic Furry / Deep Thoughts and Static Blows(if u reach lvl 75-80 this last one is not really needed anymore).

For progression, the first part of the game, focus on getting Ancestral Bond. Afther that get CI. It's best to enable it at lvl 50-55+.


4.Gear to focus on


This build must have Soul Mantle. It is based around it.
Soul mantle actually gives u more things to do than helping u out. Fist of all, its very low ES for and end game char. Second, there is that dreded lvl 20 curse that is cast upon every totem death (by monsters or by recast).
To counter this u need Immunity To Curses on all ur flasks. This is mandatory. Without it u can not survive.

U'll need to focus the rest of the gear for Elemental Resistance, ES and mana. If u have dmg bonuses from them, that's a bonus.
Let's detail them 1 by 1
Elemental Res needs to be at max or near. The reason is that u wont get a lot of dmg from mele opponents because u'll throw totems and zombies.However u'll bet hit by ranged opponents. Usually the most dangerous dmg from ranged, is elemental.
ES needs to be as high as possible because u have a crappy ES from Soul Mantle. Get as much as u can from head and shield.
Regarding mana... keep in mind that a totem at arc lvl 20 with the above listed support gems is 260MANA!!! That is huge! U need to pop 3 of those! So every mana point counts. If u want to run discipline, like i do, than u are in even more need of mana. It is wort considering to have that 7% less mana cost for skills nodes from the templar side. Don't run the aura without lower mana support gem.

I'll list my items bellow so that u can get the idea. The tree i'm curently using is with Power Charge.
With those items i have:
-1.33k Mana
-3.97K ES or 5K ES(with discipline)
-2.15k listed DMG on arc totem -> 2.95k with 6PC
-75+ on all resistances on max difficulty

5.Gameplay


The gameplay consists of popping totems in the right place at the right time. The safest way to run is to have 2 of them near u and then cast the 3 to the edge of the screen. The one in front will attract the mobs and when they reach it, the other 2 totems will light everything up. In the mean time, dual curse the mob. I recommend using 3 zombies. They are useful as alternative targets. Do not pun any points in them. Just link them to Minion Life and Minion Resistance and that's enough.

A lot of people might think that 2.2K dmg is low dmg. That's not true. This is pure elemental dmg so keep in mind that u can obliteraty the mosters resitance. Usually very high DPS build are physical ones. They can go 15k+ but there is no way to mitigate monster armor like it can be done with lightning. U have high listed DPS but the actual DPS is lower.
This is the opposite here.
Think of it this way: 2.2 x3 totems = 6.6DPS + 90%from triple shock = 12.5K DPS output
Now lets say that there is a monster with 50% lightning resit. Dual curse it and it goes down to -50% -> +50% more DPS. U can see where i'm going.


6.Power Charges


Are they viable? -> yes they are but not as much as for a dual totem.
I've added my new tree adapted for Power Charge buildup. It's right after the original one. I also changed some of my equipement and got a boost in mana and ES. This is also updated.
Why not so effective? If i have only white monsters and some elites, by the time i to cast the spear... everything is dead(at least for maps until 71-72).
The order of gameplay would be 1. plant 3 totems 2. dual curse 3. ice spear them.
I rarelly get to use Ice Spear with normal mobs. It is however useful for pack of elites or bosses with high life pool (like the stone golems or bears). There u have time to build up charges.
In terms of dmg(if u have the node with +3%spell dmg per charge) my output goes from 2.15K to 2.95K with 6 charges to be more specific. That is a HUGE DMG BONUS, but for most of the time u'll never need it in solo. I haven't played in 6 player parties. There i think it would help quite a bit.
Other things. U are doing 4 things at the time (totem/curses/IceSpear/resumon minions). U need to get ur priorities straight other wise ur head will go on fire. :D To many things to do. The best thing to do is to use Ice Spear only when needed. Most of the time u won't need it.
In terms of benefits from the tree, to adapt the tree for Ice Spear i had to give up Statik Blows and 4-5 10intel nodes. So, u will have a bit less mana and a bit less ES. Ur initial dmg wont be affected until u build PC.

I'm actively running this build at the moment.
Here is some feedback regarding difficult map bosses. I've been playing maps up to lvl 71.
As u know some bosses, can be a problem.

Villa Map (70)

This one is a very though battle. It's very difficult for even high leach, high resist, high life mele builds. What i found out though is that, with totems, u can kill it without it(that caster thingie :)) even touching u. As a guide, try to clear the mobs surrounding the boss. This is kind of mandatory. Then, u need to not get it to actively target u. He starts right in the middle upper part of the boss area, in front of the stairs. Best way to get him to attack the totems is to cast them from sides and not from the garden. U ca use the collums to avoid direct view. Stay behind and just consistently pop totems. If u can get to dual curse him, the fight last 1/2 the time. Do not face him directly. U can take up to 2 trap explosions but after that, any attack can take u down. Just run out of its reach. Collums help here.


Museum Map (68)

This map is the one i had most trouble on. Had to leave without killing the boss on a few runs. But in the end i got the idea of how to defeat them. The most important thing here is to kill all the monsters support AND not to get the tentacle thing near the entrance. Thats where u'll be staying. It's very tight space and with those tentacle blasts it can cover every angle. If the boss is there at the entrance and has more than 4 helps around it. Leave it. it's not worth one death, especcially for high lvl chars. The second thing is very simple to kill once the tentacle guy is gone.


All other maps 68 - 70 are kind of a joke in terms of bosses for this build. Just watch out for difficult modifiers like no mana regen. Also, one modifiers which i found is very heavy, is ... ENFEBLE... It actually gets the DPS to 50% on totems. Be careful with this one.

Considering you're going for several crit nodes and consider going for crit gem in the soul mantle, how come you aren't taking the power charges? Your build is practically right next to 3 extra power charges which will increase Arc's dps significantly with a lmp/gmp + charge on crit + ice spear spam on the side.

That's what i'm doing atm. Also wondering why many sporkers/totem builds don't take those power charges. Seems like a very cheap way (usually 3-4 points away for most builds) to massively increase damage. However managing 3 totems and curses AND having to generate power charges can be somewhat of a task. I'm only lvl 53, so hard to say what path is the best. So far im only using dual totems and using Icespear+GMP+power charge on crit to generate charges... should work just as fine with 3 totems (only difference is you won't be doing any damage while generating charges)

the answer is actually very simple. Most of the time i play solo. This is where i see how capable a char really is.
The PC nodes i did not take because i do not have time to plant 3 totems, dual curse AND throw some Ice Spears. By the time i reach to throw spears.... the entire screen is dead.
They would help...maybe for bosses.... but i might have to resummon some totems as a priority.

If u take a look at my gems, curentlly i'm using Lightning Trap which i throw only on bosses.
It might work by getting +3 PC nodes and the 3 extra support nodes. It would imply just to reallocate some points. Problem is that i'm not sure i can cast it to sustain all 6 PC.

It's not same as dual totem and dual cast / dual totem and build PC . That third totem takes some time to plant....and mana :P
Then again i would use only lvl 1 spear and GMP... so mana cost will be next to nothing.

Here goes:

Main skill on Soul Mantle, supported by lvl 14 totem:
Arc + Lightning Penetration + Elemental Proliferation + FC + Crit Dmg
If i ever get a 6L Soul Mantle i'll probably add Culling Strike so that my mana cost does not go of the rails...

Curses on shield:
Conductivity + Elemental Weakness + FC

Minions on Gloves:
Skeletons + Zombies + Minion Life + Minion Resist

Cast on dmg taken on boots(this one i need to redesign)
Cst on Dmg Taken + Ice Wall + Molten Shell + Chance to Flee
I think i'll replace chance to flee with somthing elese... I had some trouble rolling 2r 2b . So i ended up with 1green slot :)

I'll go on the head with:
Ice spear + GMP + PC on crit + FC
Need to try and see if i have time to maintain PC like some of u suggested.

On wand:
Reduced Mana + Discipline + Lightning Wrap

I use the alternate weapon just to lvl blue gems. The 6th socket on SM is also used for lvling.

Please keep us updated on how it works with power charges.

I'm working my way to triple totems now, but got derailed to aura nodes :P

How is ice wall working for you? I seriously need some defence after leaving the safety of the ledge :P
