I probably shouldn't doubt you guys, but I'm quite wary of this. LotRO did the same thing with their PvP Ladder system, the conclusion was - when faced with a large amount of players - a bottleneck of information trying to hit the client server all at once, thus resulting in some pretty bad lag issues and crashes. They then went on to include this in their MyLotro "armory" system for everything, which made it even worse. Granted it's taking it from a 3min to a 30s time frame, gotta wonder if this will be too much information for the server to process in that time span, especially as the game continues to grow.


They've explained that they're going to be dissociated from character saves, meaning that it won't have any effect on the actual player server. This is good news, because I wouldn't want crashes and lag all due to a ladder system being shoddily implemented. :P

Id also recommend limiting notifications to top 20 for spam reasons; its the standard cutoff for prizes in longterm leagues, and we cant see more than 10 with the /ladder command ingame anyway.

Persistent ladders for events is great. Could you also format the experience column with thousands separators? Would make it much easier to read.

If it's 50 and the race just started and people died for some reason it would be a chat filled with spam. I think 25 is a good place to place it at.

Read his statement, he said "actual ladder" which clearly refers to the non-race type format. I agree, during the end of a long-term race I would love to have some more announcements than we have now.

It would be great if it was sort of flexible. A very nice solution would be to make this dependent on the top15/25 *deaths*. That metric is scaling throughout the race. You probably would have to reduce it to top10 or top5.

But come on, we just want to see a certain amount of the *top deaths*. Not an uncertain amount of *top players* dying. Depending on the race, players in the top10 might get really cautious for a long while or are the ones that wouldn't die to begin with unless they feel the pressure.
