I *must* be missing something [spoilers]

Dominus is fucking hard.

And this is in Normal difficulty. And I'm not saying that I am the best ARPG player ever — far from it. But I'm not exactly a noob at this stuff either.

It's honestly the first time I've ever played this and thought to myself "Seriously? They expect people to play Hardcore against this shit?" I actually was close enough to rage-quitting that I took a double-cigarette break during

Which leads me to believe I simply must be doing it wrong. So what tricks do you guys have to kill this guy clean? Because I felt like a stream of zerglings after a while. Especially that time I portaled in and died to fucking precipitation before making it to the bubble.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I feel your pain - I died 4 times in Cruel although I am currently at then end of Act 3 in Merciless with my lvl 67 Marauder...

The fight is pretty fun though, albeit a bit frustrating, and I think it is a good thing they raised the difficulty for the last boss.
poor scrubcore guys complaining about dying :(((

This is eerily similar to what happened to me... I was a bit cheaper though and went in merciless with proven character who I thought can handle situations. After exploring every nook and cranny thoroughly, viewing every monster in detail and reading/listening every story I decided to end the fight with boss... As you said, stream of "zerglings", in my case titty-machineguns (tenticle/hentai (mis)creation) was bigging me while I was running around trying to see all attacks boss had to throw at me. Then something fired up above my head and as I smacked first pair of miscreations, they exploded, killing me instantly. All 4000hp, 77dr max res of me. Feelig a bit cheated but still unshaken I took that insult to game design and marshaled forth with decision to bring down evildoer. Beating his form was exciting but a bit anti-climatic. Then game took me by surprise: "this world is an illusion" and pop comes the real big boss! Being careful in my approach "just in case" I threw a few hits and took one just to measure the level, carefully skulking around... Not too bad I thought.

And then it started acid rain thingy... I drank all the potions (and my black coffee just as a moral boost to my character) with little effect, I died 3-4 secs in. Next 4-5 times I died trying to figure out where to go since entire wagon of potions was not enough to keep me alive (70% was movement speed increase and didnt manage to get on top of tower, standing still didnt work as well). Seeing that its utterly useless to try to do anything slightly enraged I entered like a drone not having any intention of fighting but rather figuring out how to stop acid rain. It kept raining for 5 minutes flat, non stop every time I entered the level. Now furious, angry at my rl friend who was playing with me game and insisting that we finish the fight, brought me to rabid animal state where one would resort in getting physical to went build up frustration. Even to older gamers like us, it happens. I ended up flickering to boss and beating him, marking the end in that agony.

So yea. Acid rain.

If you lived your real life hard core you wouldn't feel that its necessary to give such inventive and well written advice on a game forum.
Just a tip. Acid Rain is Bleed Damage. Flasks of Staunching *NEGATE* bleed damage.
