Game is too easy? Not complex enough.

Let's be honest here. When GGG say 'Hardcore ARPG', they really mean 'Diablo Clone'. Naturally they can't and should not have to say that, but that's what is. Argue the definition of ARPG all you like (so predictable), but the truth of the matter is, PoE aspires to be a satisfying, engaging experience for those of us who simply couldn't get enough of it in D2.

End of story.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
While GGG have been frank about their D2 love & influence I am not sure they would be happy with saying POE is just a "diablo2 clone".

It isn't just a D2 clone, yes it manages to muster the same kind of feelings with its grittyness & atmosphere but POE isn't a clone for that reason alone.

Many things that were a main staple of D2 are not present in POE & are actually vehemently opposed by GGG & a large number of the community.

POE is POE, at best you could call it the spiritual successor to D2 but D2 Clone does not describe whats inside POE.
PoE = D2 clone (same with any arpg)
Little Big Planet = Mario clone (same with any platformer)
Modern Warfare = Wolfenstein clone (same with any fps)

I don't think LBP is a Mario clone or that MW is a Wolfenstein clone, call me crazy but I don't think PoE is a D2 clone.

It is obviously inspired, heavily, by D2 but it also differs greatly from D2.

"the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

Happy hunting/fishing
It's not that the games looks too much like Diablo 2. It's that it's afraid to improve in the field were Diablo 2 lacked, simply to stick to Diablo 2 : that is silly.

There is nothing wrong with wanting more difficulty, challenge, reflexes...

There is something wrong with wanting this game to be a mindless loot farming game with almost no depth whatsoever (except for the relatively short moment where you come up with a build idea).

They really said that this game was targeted at hardcore Gamers. In my book, hardcore gamers plays games that requires lots of skills and have a huge depth.
Yet all I see here, is a Keyboard Spam-fest with no real planning/thinking, advanced reflexes or anything that could be called SKILLS. That is typically the definition of a CASUAL game. A game that is just a mindless distraction, that only keeps you playing thanks to a reward system.
The only small element with some depth is the Build system, but you are hardly going to spend 1% of you time conceptualizing it. 99% of the rest is just using the build that you created. That's it.

The ONLY games thay require tons of different skills are FPS and sims. Puzzle games and the like are merely raw thinking.

I here a new COD is coming out......

And there you go, asserting definitions again. What is a hardcore gamer?

Who are you to say? Who am I?

Let GGG define their target audience and if you feel that doesn't include you, so be it. You are really at risk of coming across as merely preaching and not reasonable at all. I do not recommend that if you wish to engender civil conversation.

Edit: if you refer back to my very first post about path of exile, you will see that I called PoE a Diablo clone and meant it as the highest compliment. I see Diablo as a genre unto itself precisely to avoid these petty, pointless arguments about the ARPG classification. There are bad Diablo games, good ones, and there are those that so faithfully and authentically replicate the experience, not just the featured and elements, as to be called a Diablo game. Ironically, Diablo 3 had the featured and the elements but not the authenticity.

So know that when I say PoE is a Diablo clone, I can think of no higher praise in this era when so many ARPGs fall short of that mark.

Note that the classification is IARPG, because ARPG is way too broad, and a stupid term to use.

Want to know what other games are rpgs with action based gameplay? Kingdom Hearts, Dark Souls, Rogue Galaxy, etc.

Isometric Action RPG is the proper term for diablo-clone. Diablo clone works fine with me, but arpg is way too general.
People just don't get the fucking point here. I wouldn't have pledged if I hated the genre!

All I'm saying, is that this game needs more challenge, and more skills.

I'm just trying to provide feedback on a matter that is easy to fix but critical. There is an issue, the game is so easy it's boring, and one could almost beat it with his hands tied behind his back.

But I see, people just want me to be a Diablo 2 hater, while I really loved Diablo 2 back then, for it's innovation. They want me to be a COD fanboy, or worse, a Diablo 3 fanboy (I hate these 2 games). They just want to someone to bash on, so that they look a little bit smarter than they are (or aren't).

By the way, there is a high level of mental retardation in some of the posters here, mainly those telling me to play COD. When was COD skill based? When did that game had depth/complex thinking?
What a constructive argument.
Point of fact if you don't want people to attack you for your thoughts don't attack them for theirs. Every post you have made has basically said this game isn't what you want but instead of providing constructive criticisms you have littered your posts with the word fuck(not that I find it offensive but some might) and telling people they are wrong. My suggestion to you is this. If you want people to listen to you stop acting like you are right and other people are wrong and start posting things you'd like to see to make it better(in your opinion) in a calm civil manner.
I kinda agree with the OP, this game is not hardcore, atleast as I think it should be. I really hoped this game was harder to figure out and beat. For me in the current state PoE means starting in a new HC league, playing to 70+ in one week and then logging in once a week to talk to my friends. There is nothing that makes me want to grind for more. I very much hope the coming of act 3 and PVP changes this somehow.

I hope I can enjoy PVP more than the PVE so I have some reason to grind and level my main character for atleast few months. I think PoE has one of the best game mechanics there is and I love almost everything in it, thats why I so much hope the end-game was more thought provoking and harder than it is now.

TL;DR I love the game so I hope it will get better so I have some reason to play it more
