/itemlevel Seems important. More info please.

I've now seen two uses of /itemlevel in PoE videos.

1. Check the item level of a seemingly boring white ring. If it is high item level, using chaos orb will return better stats than the same looking ring with a lower item level.

2. Item level can impact the max sockets an item can have.

Questions:

- Are both of those statements true?

- Are there more useful things to know about item level?

- Is there going to be a simpler way to view item level? It seems too important to be hidden.

- What are the tiers for sockets? What item level is necessary for 4, 5, 6 sockets?

- Any other general item building tips that have anything to do with item level?

You know the ilvl of an item when it drops. ilvl = level of mob that dropped it. mob level = zone level, except for rare monsters mob level = zone + 2, magic monsters zone + 1

/itemlevel command is for double-checking, after you've stashed an item and forgotten.

The point of item level is so if you want to upgrade a white item to a rare/blue, you know about what you will be getting level wise from the item. For example if you have two iron rings, one you picked up at level 8, the other at 47, and you want to upgrade it with an alchemy orb you will want to use it on the highest item level ring you have for better possible stats since the level 8 ring will be significantly lower then the other.

1. Yes. although i think you mean alchemy orb.

Basically, if you're interested, click on item date in the left hand column and click on prefixes or suffixes. Higher itemlevel items will tend to have a chance of getting higher mods.

For instance, an ilevel 60 Necromancer Silks can only roll a max of +106 ES (Scintillating mod) whereas an ilevel 69 Necromancer Silks can roll a max of +148 ES (Incandescent mod)

2. Yes

I believe that the minimum ilevel for an item to get 4S is around level 25, and the minimum ilevel for an item to get 6S is around 53. I might be a little way off on the exact ilevel required but that's just an example. i can't remember the required ilevel for 5S but i think it was around >37

itemlevel is only useful for crafting purposes.
not sure if there'll be a simpler way to view it in the future.
Mods will be the main thing u'll look at when crafting an item.

basically, an ilevel 10 item can roll ilevel 10 and below mods, eg. ilevel 1,5,7

an ilevel 60 item can roll all ilevel60 and below mods, eg. ilevel 1,5,7,25,45,59

Some mods however can only be found on certain items. Movement speed for instance can only spawn on boots.

How do orbs of chance work with item level? For example, the staff featured in the new build of the week video. Which white item (s) can be converted to that unique with an orb of chance?

Yes on both counts, all uniques can be any itemlevel at or above their base level and can drop any zone of level equal or higher than unique level.

Itemlevel doesn't affect the probability of an orb of chance converting an item to be a unique. it's remote enough as it is anyway.

the white item is the Long Staff. but if you want the chance of it being 6S, get a white long staff from merci act2

Would love to see a new line in the Item display sheet for Item Level since this is a very important factor for people and you easily can get cheated in trades since there is no way to check the itemlevel besides trusting your trading partner.

I would like to see word on implementing itemlevel in the item hover as I have seen none even though I believe it has been suggested in multiple occasions. I hope it is that it is in their low priority list and not that they are shying away because it is "ugly" or would confuse new players or because "you can use the console".

Quoted for significance. This would be an extremely useful stat to display as part of the item description floating window.

Itemlevel on the item would be very nice.
