Would love to see a new line in the Item display sheet for Item Level since this is a very important factor for people and you easily can get cheated in trades since there is no way to check the itemlevel besides trusting your trading partner.

This issue has been raised before a long time ago. ilvl is so important, that it must be displayed on an item.

I brought this up in Suggestions a week ago and got largely ignored.

The new build of the week video highlights the need for item levels not to be hidden.

i guess the itemlevel of a item is hidden with purpose as it makes the game even more complicated for starters.

there isn't even a official dev statement yet (at least i have only seen estimations from player experiences) how many sockets are possible on certain itemlevels.

there's nothing more discouraging than wasting tons of jewelers to be told afterwards that you can't roll 6 sockets on this item because of the itemlevel requirement.

btw: in the prefix-mod page (http://www.pathofexile.com/item-data/prefixmod) it doesn't say "itemlevel requirement" but plain "level" which may be fairly true but not accurate.

I have discussed this with Chris directly. So yes, they are very aware of it and of the significance of itemlevel. Specifically I raised the fact that a low level unique can have a high itemlevel and thus greater slot potential than its lower itemlevel self. This could be extremely problematic in trades.

As I recall, there are some complexities to implementing itemlevel in the item stats, but I for one feel it's essential.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

I don't see many people questioning the use of item level. It just seems that it is important enough that it should be information easily accessible to all players. As I said in the OP, the only reason I even know the concept exists is from watching some videos. Hopefully they find time to add some accurate, detailed information to the site at some point.

thx charan,
btw: meanwhile i'm not sure what the prefix mod levels in www.pathofexile.com/item-data/prefixmod really mean.

is it the itemlevel or the level requirement on the item?

You know the ilvl of an item when it drops. ilvl = level of mob that dropped it. mob level = zone level, except for rare monsters mob level = zone + 2, magic monsters zone + 1

/itemlevel command is for double-checking, after you've stashed an item and forgotten.

I found his first claim to be untrue. I got ilvl items that were higher tahn the monster level zone.

This might of been stated in this thread already, didn't read the whole thing. Just sayin.

No, Zakaluka's first statement is true. The ilevel is either the area level (white mobs, chests, pots, etc.), the area level +1 (blue mobs) or the area level +2 (yellow mobs).

I can't remember the exact number, but it seemed to be higher than 2 levels. Was a lvl41 zone and ilvl'd 48 or something.

But i can't remember the exact details so it's not confirmed. I'll have to put my claim aside for now and keep an eye out for it now. I definitely remember the ilvl was 48, I still have the item, and I remember what zone I found it in.

To be continued...
