Well, try to run trough a horde of mobs, then you have basically a 100% desync chance. To ensure your success, take as many mobs as possible, choose fast mobs, and run through tiny pathways (doors, corridors, everythings in caves). Have fun with your desync ;)

It's not only lag, even with a perfect connection, as long as there is delayed information that need to be synchronised afterward, there will be desync. They could improve the "prediction system", but I don't think it would be sufficient.

There are probably other games that uses this kind of system. I'd like to know if any of them made it work properly, and if yes, why does it fail completely in PoE...

Something has to be done, this game can't be played seriously at the moment. It will be even worse when PvP will start.

I personally notice it most with Oversoul, when his minions are out especially.

Other notable times I see desync are when a mob is 'frozen' in place and I'm several feet away, yet it's hitting and doing damage to me (I've tried to get screenshots but kind hard to time 'em to catch the bloodspray off my character.)

The doors thing, as mentioned above is another good example and ever since seeing somebody in chat talking about the fact that they kill or kite the monster blocking the doorway first to avoid desync, I've noticed it's quite true and try to do the same to alleviate it some.

I'm hoping that as we draw closer to OB that GGG will fork out some cash for bandwidth, and for some hardware upgrades. As it stands now, desync (which I'd never heard such a term before playing this game) will be the death of this adventure.

This and Charan's response seem to epitomise a growing undercurrent in the forum and chat i have noticed since i returned after a 200+ hrs stint with dark souls.

The community, especially the mods, seem to be taking themselves a touch too seriously.

You did not intend to have people share their experiences, knowledge or views on the given subject during the OP because it was never mentioned. Just a sarcastic, negative remark. Desync is well noted as being a problem with this game, creating a post in which it's evident that it will gain the attention of flamers is more along the lines of what I'd describe this OP to of been.

I want PoE to succeed. But due to it being a free-to-play game, you will require income from somewhere (microtransactions and us supporters :D). The unfortunate thing about PoE being free-to-play is that it brings the worst parts of the gaming community around. These humans are toxic individuals. They will not like desync (rightly so, mind, but we're not to the toxic part yet), and WILL write off PoE as being a PoS, never bothering to give it a second chance. It wouldn't matter if you guys managed to alleviate desync issues a week after OB release: The damage would all ready be done. These individuals will have all ready spread word among the rest of the community that, in their opinion, "PoE r moar liek PoS."


Please. Please do yourselves AND US a favor and postpone OB until the desync problems are alleviated. I know some people just complain to complain, but this is a legitimate issue that will effectively break PoE thanks to horrible business practices of other unrelated Publishers (EA, Activision, BLIZZARD, Capcom, Ubisoft, and so on and on and on) tainting the minds of the gaming community.

Meeting deadlines is great and all. But no one likes sitting through a shit presentation, and would certainly prefer delayed delivery as opposed to wasting their time listening to a shit presenter who, from their point of view, obviously wasn't prepared at all.

I didn't say that the people who posted were flamers, I stated that the post was intended to draw them - not to gain information regarding other player experiences as you stated. Attention to detail is a fine attribute that very few ever obtain.

Since I'm an old chap though, I tip my hat to you and say goodday :P

To be fair, the OP was trollish, in the fact that it provided few specifics that would help address the problem nor asked for anyone else's experience with it... it was simply a complaint coupled with sarcasm, which is pretty much a recipe for troll posts even if they aren't intended as such.

That's fine, albeit it's not the most helpful way to go about it. Because it's not that helpful, and because of the kind of person Charan is, he likes to see the best out of people, and you didn't give him that here, nor obviously in other threads dealing with this topic... but it seems to me that at some point you did get on his radar for giving good feedback or advice, and that shift in output is clearly off-putting to him.

Maybe I suck as a mediator :P but I hope you realize that both sides were slightly abrasive in this thread, which often just escalates whatever issue it is.
