How does "curse on hit" work?

Yeah, well the only uses for decreased duration and slower projectiles new gems I could think of were:
Lightning warp for faster travel and ice spear for faster crit version, respectively.

So I guess each is for a specific skill/spell to improve?

It would be so ridiculous broken if it was 1.

imagine getting endurance charge and cursing enemies each time you crit all while using a 6 linked skill.

Nothing special. You are basically sacrificing slots for convenience and a faster application of both endurance charges and curses.

Using enduring cry and curses currently doesn't make it MUCH longer.

Yeah, plus if it were balanced to have mana reservation I really don't see why it couldn't be a possibility. God forbid I'm able to use an extra hotbar slot and save 0.3 seconds every time I come across a pack.

personally i will be using this skill along with critical weakness on my flicker strike, but the only reason is that i don´t have space on any item to put another skill gem

So, curse on hit has to be linked with the attack skill? That's kinda disappointing. I was looking for a more versatile version of Asenath's TC curse on hit :(
well this at least explains why it wasn't working for me in the configuration I had it in -- but I had gotten somehow the mistaken impression that it cast the curses when *I* was hit, not when I MADE a hit with an attack skill --- I must have temporarily tied it to an attack skill inadvertently without realizing what I had done, due to availability of slots at that moment and only later realized it wasn't firing off on me.

Will have to rethink things a little but I think I can still see a use for this

All this having been said, however, I think the gem should have been named Curse on Strike, so it was more obvious that it was to be tied to an attack gem, rather than casting these curses when you take a hit from a monster.

Not only was it already thought of, Curse on Hit support was implemented and working locally more than a month before that post was made.
While we appreciate people making suggestions for skills and supports, and some of them might be used, this is something we thought of ourselves, and has been planned for years (since the very first monsters started applying curses on hit, years ago).
