Which items can drop in beta?

ye wanna know which item to use for crafting.
what is the highest itemlevel that can drop in the beta?
Potentially, ilevel 100 items can drop.

All items drop in all zones, except for maps, provided:

a. The item is appropriate ilevel (item level 10 cannot drop in a level 3 zone).
b. Or the item is a currency item (currency items drop in all areas regardless of level)

Right now, the highest level zone is... I think 57, the ancient pyramid, so the highest ilevel drop is ilevel 59 (rare monsters add +2 ilevels to items they drop).

When you enter act 2 of merciless, you gain access to maps. Maps start at zone level 60. By finding maps in maps, you can slowly go up in zone level. No one has done this yet, but in theory it should be possible to reach a level 100 map this way.

However, item base types don't go any higher than 67. Meaning, if you find an ilevel 100 item, it will still use level <67 base type, which means it will have lower base damage/defenses than base items that will be introduced into the future.

Some other useful info:

* item level = monster level

* Can check ilvl by picking up an item (holding it on the cursor) and typing in the chat window: /itemlevel

Check out the "Game Mechanics" thread for more details (see link below)

Isn't the highest map level 69, or did they increase it?

GGG put up this Item Data for a reason. Check it out. You'll notice items only go up to a certain ReqLevel as well as the affixes. There's no reason to have an iLevel above that.
