Reset Skill Tree?

Question, what if in OBT for example, if we used all free repecs points from quest and a number of Regret Orbs & there are major updates and required a Free Passive reset.

Will we get back all the free repec points from quest and Regret orbs used?

In World of Warcraft, if you've spend X amount of gold respeccing your talents and then they apply a major update and reset your talent trees... does WoW then also reimburse you with the gold you spent beforehand?

The answer is of course: NO!

You don't have to spend your Quest respec points or Orbs before any major updates... they'll still be there after the update.

At the end of the day you will always have a method of respeccing. It might require grinding/trading, but it is always there. What the current system DOES do is makes you think carefully about your character. This creates a closer and more meaningful bond with your character because you've moulded and shaped them bit by bit... inching them closer to the perfect character for you.

This unchangeable skill tree thing is obviously a throw back to Diablo 2 and the like, and honestly, it is simple an outdated mode of interaction.

The skill of the game is in finding the best skill tree, not in choosing it the first time. Most people prefer this method simply because Diablo 2 did it, which is a pretty poor reason. It has more meaning? Ok then, enforce hardcore mode on all characters. Then death will have more meaning for everyone.

Being able to respec all the time would make the game a lot easier. Not to mention, since every class has access to all gems and all passive skill tree nodes, you would basically just need one character and that'd be boring.

I am against full respec. The current system with orb regrets and refunds from quests is balanced enough I think.
Even when I didn't have access to the game, I already did some planning about which nodes I would go and through which way. The current system allows me to tweak a little bit and make some small change without going full respec. And if I really failed the build, it really is not a problem for me to restart with a fresh character and try something else.
If full respec was implemented, it would reduce replayability as I would only have one of each class.

In response and as as suggestion to the less patient player who want to know where they should go without too much thinking: how about adding an option, which allow the passive tree to be in easy mode. By easy mode I mean, the main attributes paths are highlighted in their respective colors (dexterity paths are green for example). Or perhaps a little ingame tutorial before being thrown on the shores of Wraeclast.
Just a thought.

If being able to respec would make the game easier, then the difficulty of the game obviously lies in the wrong place. Otherwise what exactly are you good at? Choosing the right tree the first time? Is that the primary "skill" involved in POE?

On the other hand, if the primary skill is placement and movement and choosing stats correctly and knowing what does what, then those would remain completely unchanged by a resettable skill tree.
It should be nice to get one full respec solution.
Maybe only in standard game.

Just help a bit noobs (like me:).
I discover Skill tree advantages/drawbacks by building my character. I made mistakes and I'd like to correct them. Just one time.

The primary skill involved in PoE is knowledge. With the current respec system, I have to plan ahead. For example, I can't just go full glass cannon in the first difficulty, and then as soon as the game gets harder, fully respec to a defensive build and then again change to an offensive one as soon as I reach some easier parts of the game or find better equipment. I have to think of a build which works for every part of the game most efficiently, I have to find the best compromise and that requires knowledge of the game. With full respec, all of the decision making becomes trivial, there would be no upsides and downsides to a build, eventually you would have the perfect build for every situation and the game would become boring.

If you need a real example, playing a crit dagger Shadow is quite hard in early and mid game, but very rewarding late game. With full respec, for this Shadow every phase of the game would be easy.

There should be a VERY RARE ORB, thats resets your whole tree, 1 in a million chance or something.
