Chat Channels

From my experience with other games, it appears to me that the chat channels listed in the original post covers the chat channels that I've seen previously. In some cases, there weren't even that many options.

I haven't read through the 19 pages in this thread, so I don't know if this has been previously mentioned. But, what I'm curious of is if there are any plans to have a chat room.

This would be a great place to meet up with other players and organize a party to game in. Temporary custom channels could be created by individual players. Once all the players left the chat room channel, either to go in-game or when quitting the game, the custom chat room channel would cease to exist.

Permanent chat room channels could be created by fan sites or communities willing to support them, where their members could get together to organize and schedule games. As a member of The Amazon Basin, we've been doing this for years on Battle.net with Diablo II. The Basin has a permanent main chat room channel that is the same for all Realms as well as a permanent channel for each of Realms where we hold weekly 30 minute chat sessions.

The chat room would utilize many of the in-game chat commands. You could message a friend in-game to join you in the chat room or they could message you to join them in-game.

(Just throwing that out there as a suggestion).

i would love it if there was trade chat option because ive played alot of mmo games and noticed that in most games people will spam alot of the world speak or default speak channels with sales and offers, and this can be very annoying if there was a specific trade channel it would give spammers a playground so gamers can socialize once again.

btw i would be a great tester i have alot of ideas and free time also trying to get plugged into game development dont know how to do that but if someone does please let me know.

can someone give me a beta key? I really want to play this game. Screenshots and gamepleys are nice. plese help me:) give me a key:)

Trade chat is only worthwhile if you can keep it moderated and restricted to actual B/S posts. In many games trade chat degenerates fast.

The idea of an "Act" based chat would be nice, but if a new player wants true experienced advice quickly in-game that would require higher level players that most likely not be in lower Acts.

-"newb"-chat--for players who need help/have questions -about game mechanics.
-of course a "trade"-chat
-maybe a chat for the different difficulties
-chatchannels created by players seems like a good idea
-an option to instantly see when an account comes online

In my experience with this kind of game, having standard general channels (I saw someone mentioning this earlier) like Gen-1, Gen-2 etc which fill up towards a saturation point then create the next one, shifting maybe half the current members into Gen-3 and so on would work well.

The ability to switch back to a previous one would be important though, if you were in the middle of a conversation with someone who didn't get shifted say.

Especially useful however would be the ability to create custom channels, so you could meet with a group of friends (or people you meet randomly throughout gameplay) in a private space without having to be in a guild or a party together. This way, if Player A, Player B and Player C are friends, and Player A wants to go level a low level character, they can still chat privately with Player B, while being in a party with Player D. Then if Player A and D end up liking each other, A can invite D to join B and C in the channel. This sort of function can be crucial to creating a bond between players while keeping the community as a whole strong.

We definitely need a trade channel, perhaps some kind of Mentor channel for those who wish to help others also.

i didnt read thru this but im going to post this anyway. how about a personal chat that u can invite your friends to and u guys can chit chat thru this dedicated box.

I think the 6th class will be a battle mage. I mean, strength and intelligence means a tanker mage character. It would be awesome, the magic melee combat should be very unique and different though. I cant wait to see a mage with giant armor and a viceral blade, casting huge devastating spells for aoe, as well as single target. Mabye shadow oriented or could be a monster him/herself.

I think the idea of reading but not posting in a trade chat out of a town would be a better idea.

I mean, I don't want to sit in town hoping that the right thing comes along, I'd much rather be out there trying to find it on my own while I occasionally scan for it.

Perhaps make it so that you can filter the trade chat so that only lines with specific types of items and/or words will show up to reduce the "noise" on the channel while you're out in the world.

Please don't remove trade from outside of town, I hate sitting in town doing nothing because I want to upgrade my weapon and am having trouble killing the mobs that would drop the quality of weapon I need.
