Big packet loss behind my ISP network
|
Hi there,
My ping is randomly very inconsistent. Sometimes it works for a few hours, sometimes it does not even work one hour a day. Sometimes it happens in the morning and sometimes it happens in the evening. My ping is usually 15ms, but most of the time it varies from 80ms to 20k+ ms. Therefore I did except it to be a packet loss issue. I did follow the debugging instructions with WinMRT and foudn out, that I have 10-15% packet loss in the network which does not belong to my home network neither to my ISPs network. Here are the results of my WinMRT check: Screenshot: https://prnt.sc/2AD4OPRgWSnN Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/1QBcCXUM Other troubleshooting done so far: - Used steam and stand alone version of PoE2 - Used a wired connection and in total 4 different cables - Used Windows and Linux - Used 2 PCs and 1 laptop (which nearly died with PoE2) - Used two different VPNs - Used two different ISPs (yes, changed my ISP at some point as I thought it's their fault) - Used my mobile phone connection, which is in general shitty (300ish ms), but seems to be constantly shitty - Used different servers (Frankfurt, Madrid, London, Amsterdam and even non EU ones) - Used the "exposed host" fuction of my FritzBox - Allowed everything around PoE and Steam in my firewall - Port forwarded every port I was able to identify or find on the internet (https://prnt.sc/Z-XYir4MF0dc) - PoE2 is the only game where I have this issue - I had a similar problem in PoE1 which could be solved with port forwarding I would appreciate any help to solve this issue as it's completly destroying my gaming experience :-( Last edited by sMuve#2756 on Sep 22, 2025, 12:14:06 PM Last bumped on Oct 26, 2025, 7:34:25 PM

I followed your guide here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1377789 and it's mentioned that you would escalate such problems to your provider. |

Same here, ton of latency spikes to every EU Server.
Tried all the fixes mentioned above plus disabling IPv6 and enabling static IP. Sometimes there are just spikes to like 1000ms ever 2 seconds, sometimes it just freezes and ramps um to 50k ms until it disconnects. Campaign, Trial of Chaos, Trial of Sekhemas there are no issues at all. Stable 18ms. MTR to my latest Map shows no issues on my end. ![]() |

" So the packet loss creeps in here; | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | Request timed out. - 100 | 121 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | Request timed out. - 100 | 121 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | Request timed out. - 100 | 121 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |serverscombv-ic-393251.ip.twelve99-cust.net - 13 | 398 | 347 | 0 | 100 | 112 | 101 | | 213.196.19.27 - 13 | 402 | 352 | 51 | 100 | 120 | 100 | We don't know which network is at fault, as the issue is likely to have started at a node that isn't participating in the WinMTR test. But what we do know is that it has appeared by the time the penultimate hop above is reached. From what I gather, this belongs to Arelion Sweden AB - a backbone provider in Sweden. Apparently Arelion is a new name for Telia. While Arelion are an upstream carrier for GGG's hosting provider - not only does that not give GGG's provider an unlimited amount of leverage, but we don't even have a single WinMTR log proving that Arelion are actually the network dropping packets rather than just not receiving them all due to an issue earlier in your connection. Absent a large number of similarly affected PoE 2 players - and in nearly a month, there's only been a single other person who claims to have the same problem (and who seemed to go out of their way to make their WinMTR log a waste of time) - the logical inference is that the issue likely lies elsewhere, as inconvenient as that may be for you. " The sticky thread was written back when GGG offered Technical Support - it has been about a decade since that was last true; they've just never materially updated it since then (likely because the staff who would be doing so are the same staff who would have provided Technical Support - if that was still happening). But to be fair to them, I'm not sure what you said here is strictly true. Unless I've misread the sticky, they say they will contact their provider IF;
Neither of those appear to be true... unlike this, which is almost certainly the case; " GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.
