Does anyone actually enjoy the harvest crafting mechanic?
why people complain about harvest ? its still insane how good it is, you get so much early gear from it and you can metacraft with it later on.

I found Harvest quite handy. I usually check the crafts and if there are currency, maps, jewel implicit etc I do them and then skip the rest like rerolling rare items.

some of the crafts are really good, the target chaos, the resist swap and the map fragment swaps are, imo, kind of essential to the game. i would be awful to remove them.
but that aside, the actual mechanic of harvest is the question here right? the thing, you go inside, you fight the monsters and get the menus. is that good? no, its terrible, i really dislike it. same with heist and to some extent bestiary, theyre all bad and theyre not bad because the devs are bad at designing stuff. the devs are great, these were ideas, they made them in a limited amount of time and they didnt work with how they wanted the game to be in some way or another. so all of these things were essentially scrapped and what we have now is something that uses their assets as best it can in a really quick retrofit to make something usable out of the corpse of the previous idea. its not surprise that theyre all, imo, worse things to engage with than stuff that worked out and fit the game close to its original idea like breach, delve, incursion etc. but some of the crafts as mentioned really add something to the game and i take the harvest nodes still for those crafts, the upgrading the goddess offerings etc, theres some really good things that make the game better. that has to be understood along side the bash at the actual experience of the encounter. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

The rewards (crafts) are reasonable to straight overpowered depending on your luck.
The mechanic itself though shines a light on bad design setups much like Scourge. Scourge actively highlights how unbelievably shit drops are, Harvest actively highlights how stupid it is to spawn random rares with random mobs in a block. You get a nice easy one all is comfy, next one 5x speed aura hosepipe snakes drilling you 1000x per second while covering the screen with on death bullshit. or the bears with the hugely overpowered slam designed to be telegraphed until it isn't. It would be trivial to show anybody on the development team what the problem was with aura stacking by using harvest, have them open 30 plots in a row. 20 will be no problem, 9 will be awkward and 1 will be harder than any of the endgame bosses short of like the feared. this effect is drastically exacerbated by DPS or lack thereof, plots need to have a majority of monsters killed immediately and if you can't achieve this the risk catapults up. |

I love Harvest. Most of the other methods are so dysfunctional it's the only method that make sense to me, as someone who has always heavily crafted in all the other games/RPG he has played. Essence is the second favorite. Fossils, then everything else is just gambling trash.

Never enjoyed the fights. Way too much the cluster-fuck. I figured out how to control it to some degree, but they took that aspect out when they re-invented it.
Crafting is kind of fun though. I like the common "5L your item". Really handy gearing as you enter maps. |

Harvest was just another gimmick to balance occurring enough times, so that trader boyz could trade crafts on some obscure discord server.
As a mechanic, you don't really see it too much, so why bother. Last edited by vmt80#6169 on Dec 8, 2021, 5:15:07 PM

" How on earth is it clunky? o_o you go in, click the thing you want, kill stuff and then craft. Computer specifications:

Do I enjoy the mechanic? No no no no - I have to have a chat with myself every time I see it to even want to go in. I did not feel that way in Ritual because it was good enough for me to spend the time to plan out an overall strategy. So I had an entire stash tab of stuff ready to be crafted and I was occasionally able to spot exalt on my good gear.
The only issue with Harvest - for the millionth time was Discord Trading. |

Kill-monster-get-loot game play is best separate from crafting, IMHO. When doing one I'd rather not bother with the other activity. Mixing the two in Harvest is mediocre not really the best.
