Streamer Big Ducks unloads on GGG and people who attack those critical of GGG

It is hilarious to me how some folks on this forum, the self-appointed "elitists", still think they have any say in the matter.

I completely agree with the streamer. At one point in the video, he mentions dislike-like rations on youtube/reddit/etc.. You can see it everywhere: people do not like 3.15, except for a very small minority, who does not matter in the pig picture.

And sometimes I read the argument that the devs can make the game whatever they want. This is wrong. As a game developer you are dependent on your playerbase. You can actually see very clearly how much they care - they even reacted by reverting some of the changes of 3.15 in part, but sadly not the important ones. As a game developer making the game is your living. You sell the product in the end. If there are not enough buyers you have failed in the job. You need to satisfy the majority, and that is all that counts.

Justifying with long-term visions or POE2 doesn't cut it. A lot of people are not satisfied and want something to change now. The game right now isn't fun, in particular the campaign was completely ruined.

Internally, GGG knows they messed up if they are going to be talking about 3.16 already.

What is sad is that I don't necessarily think GGG was wrong to scale back the power creep.

The main issue, and it's one big ducks pointed out is that they are slowly also nursing everything that players have found to be fun while giving them absolutely nothing new that is fun to replace it.

It's fine if you want to slow down the game but at least make it more rewarding along the way. Reward your players for their time invested.

And he was also right in that people should be allowed to play the game the way they want to play it. In short, have things for the no Life streamers to go after, but don't make your whole game around just that. Instead also have things in a sense of reward for the people who play casually.

One of the things I've never understood is why certain bosses seem to be strongly gated, to the point where the only way to break through that gate is by hitting a certain DPS threshold, which consequently makes the mechanics of the boss fight null and void.

If players are spending more time trying to find ways to avoid a mechanic rather than participating in it, then maybe the mechanic itself needs to be revisited, else the rewards need to validate doing it the right way.

Catarina is an excellent point for this. No one runs that boss fight because there is just not a good balance of risk versus reward.

If we are calling a spade a spade, then it feels like for these past few leagues, what GGG wanted to do was simply focus on slowing down people from completing the content too quickly. They really didn't care about anybody's fun or how it would impact those who take the game at a slower pace.

Their internal metrics were telling them people were finishing the game too quick and leaving too early so they tried this artificially slow it down.

Well congrats to them because now they drove off even more people by making it painfully slow.

It really is a child's way of reasoning.

Actually, it's quite the opposite with the scaling this ultimately killed almost every build while not nerfing damage/hp of monsters while buffing them slightly, giving them more immunities also about 95% now are chaos/cold resist which is new...

Look at it this way...the last 6 years GGG created an insane ARPG by making the game fast-paced making it chaotic on screen and giving players almost 50 Sets to play from yes 50...if you add up every single build below the meta quite a lot come close to 70% near the same power this counts as a meta. now they decided well...6 years let's go back to the start of the game and destroy every build, destroy every chase item and increase mana and remove any fun...congrats you just killed the game for over 95% of your community...

I'm going to say it now and IDC I came back because I saw how fast the game was now and I'm like sweet I love this something all the other ARPG's cant get right even D3 it has a power creep but it's not the same. so I returned I quit because the game was becoming too slow and unfun. I'm quitting again as of tonight I have given this league my best and it's not fun can't play a single melee build anymore with support gems unless it's a gladiator build or a raider build....are you serious I'm limited to 2-3 builds that also cost now almost 50ex? because guess what no ones playing league now. and there are almost no items listed.

I completed the campaign 4 times this league now yep 4 times...I hate it..it's not fun..it's stressful it's long and too grindy..

The last league was Meh but at least it was not as bad as it is now.. now it's just like um yeah...not even remotely cool or fun.

I'm not remotely casual btw I'm sitting here 8-12h a day playing with friends between helping them through the campaign and theory testing builds...yeah can't do it anymore i have finally just said it's not worth it.. I'll go play wolcen or back to D3 or lost ark or something because it is clear GGG thinks doing what blizzard with with shadowlands while not toning down monsters majorly was a good idea...look how well blizzard did with that? they lost a lot the first 6 months of SL.

GGG lost more in 1 week then they did in 6m....

Probably one of the most forthright, honest, and important videos he's made.

The man hits every single point and knocks every single one out of the park.

It's a hell of a video and must watch...

Well i watched 45 seconds, at that point he wanted some feedback below. Nothing interesting was said until then, so i'm better off listening to music and playing poe.

The game population should be divided in two. Leave the ones who want it easy in their own little dream world and be done with it.

If experience has taught me anything about this type of player its that when offered that mode they wouldn't choose it. I do think it'd be easier in the long run if GGG actually designed an easy mode or short mode rather than hard mode as it shifts the demographic that currently is the least catered for by future content to their own area.

No idea how difficult it would be to maintain two fundamentally different branches though, I suspect its too much of an undertaking - hard modes just cutting shit out by the sound of it, short mode would require systems to function differently in many circumstances.

Well, lets look at Overwatch as an example. There are 2 competitive modes - role select and you choose whatever you want mode. The game is balanced around the first one, not around the second. So I imagine in PoE the main changes will be designed around the harder mode and then some nerfs will be cut from the easier mode. It wouldn't be balanced of course, much like how SSF is not balanced but so many people play it anyway.

Since you're in the minority group of people who likes this league and want the game to be 'hard' and punishing you're in luck.

GGG is developing a small little private league called mascochist mode where you can enjoy the game the way you like in your own little dream world so the majority of the playerbase can enjoy softcore trade in peace far away from you.
Very good points made across the board and I feel the same way, game seems to be just.. less fun more work atm.

ggg might be in for a nasty surprise if next league continues the half-assed nerfs and toys around with mechanics that not all their team seem to understand.

Ahh... the TL;DR crowd. Whose precious time impedes them from watching a video, but not from commenting on a thread discussing such video.

To the OP, I also found his video resonating with me and my thoughts.

Cheers!

The mana-nerf + the flasks made me not ejoy the game anymore. trying to do some things in Standard, but just can't enjoy the game in this state atm whatever I try. Someone posted a build today in a Discord, which I'm going to try before I give up completely on 3.15.

After listening to the podcast I realized that the mana won't be reverted and the fasks won't go back as they were before. Who knows what the future might bring, but I hope some more enjoyment for me and likeminded regarding this game.
