I can't be this lucky. Trial Master ninja patched?
Ive had it spawn 4 or 5 times this league.
But 2 of those times were 2 maps back to back. |

5 times so far for me this league, chances of seeing a 6th before league end are lookin slim.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Pretty sure I had two encounters back to back or really close to it like a month ago, so I really doubt anything changed.
RNG just loves playing mind games. |

What's a Trial Master? Is that like a Reliquary Key and a game forum where people never whine? That is, a mythical non-existent thing :)
1 hour later: Trolled by GGG! Goddamn it, way to undermine my cynical rant :) Last edited by Aldora_the_Summoner#4021 on Jul 8, 2021, 3:03:46 AM

" Interesting thought experiment, fixed rate of events, i.e. 2%, and many players dilute the outcome pool. Maybe, maybe just rng. Btw. the league isn't dead and the point is challenges or drops.

" I'm not gonna argue. From a player retention POV it would make sense to have the content gated somehow in the first part of the league and then activate the ol' diablo 3 pity timer. Thinking about those challenges that "magically" don't seem to work or aren't completed until two weeks in the league and this has been going on since freakin' warbands. they should have bad luck protection anyway, you don't have to set it at a value thats good but limiting extreme cases just reduces the frustration that comes from being a bottom rng pleb.
For example if you made items link at 3k fuses, that still makes you unlucky AF but at least you aren't in a bottomless pit. Trialmaster is no different, I didn't skip Ultimatums at any point aside from Ziz gauntlet league and I never got a trialmaster. Now i didn't do 1000+ T14s or anything but 300+ for sure. The dude did give me an unnatural instinct which I was happier about than getting him tbh so not a direct complaint but still what i perceive as a waste of content. If i play a high amount and don't see the content that is a mistake unless i'm deliberately avoiding it IMO. |

"Imo definitely a waste of content in a sense. I love base trial master, the loot and exp is fantastic but the top end of the content is shit. 1-2% spawn rate is unacceptable, especially since its 1% from T11-13. You have to run 14+ for the ever soo slightly better chance... Ive found him 5 times and ive done more maps than i can count (granted im also farming only like 4 specific areas do my achievement for the challenges this league doesnt reflect my actual map completion). They should have bumped up the spawn rate and made it t10+ at a fixed percent, like 5-10%. Then adjusted Hateforge rate accordingly, though its rarer than a Headhunter so even with the increased rate and such i dont think very many would drop. Inscribed Ultimatums are kinda unnecessarily rare. I can see keeping the Exalt, Divine, etc, the actual rare ones rare, but a lot of the others it just isnt necessary. Ive only run a handful of them, however ive kept every single one ive dropped. In total throughout the entire league id say ive found less than 100 total and only 3 of them were "wow" ones. I got 1, 8 exalt one which i sold for, i think 7 exalts because it was a hard one with ruin mobs, stand in stone circles, which is the hardest inscribed you can get. The other two were an unnatural instinct and a cospris. Outside of that its all been currency. 10x fuse, 20x fuse, 30 scouring on occasion, etc. Nothing too crazy but yeah. Honestly i expected better unique exchange ones to be more common but they arent at all common. Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in! Labyrinth salt farm miner. I had somewhere between 30-40 inscribed ultimatums by the time i was done for the league I didn't find them particularly rare, I only ran one though as they were rather risky to get 5 scours, or turn a 1c unique into another 1c unique.
The best one I found turned a trash unique into a grelwood shank, kinda OK? I don't remember if grelwoods were worth anything this league but its at least a passable unique that isn't always easy to get a hold of. I chalked it up as another piece of content where GGG failed to understand what risk justifies what reward, at least 50% of the ones that dropped I wouldn't run even on SC because the time it takes to run is longer than the reward would be for just traditional mapping. Think the one I chose to run was 30 > 60 scours, something like that. |

" Confirmation bias is itself tautologically a confirmation bias. Most so called fallacies are themselves fallacies, because they apply a layer of possibility to an argument a priori, rather than after the fact, when all deductions about a premise should be made. "I'm a doctor, people might get sick from that" Is that a fallacy? "Those kids keep throwing baseballs at his bay window; he should stop buying bay windows". Is that? "If he enters that boxing ring to fight Leroy just for $50 bucks, he's gonna get hurt!" He gets hurt. Is that confirmation bias? Last edited by Orca_Orcinus#3543 on Jul 9, 2021, 12:28:38 AM
