Ultimatum One-Shots back.

Been a while since this has happened, i thought they fixed whatever the fuck was wrong when they changed the rare monster spawns in the challenges but today i have now died TWICE consecutively to literally nothing on screen.

Stand in Stone circles, not even hard mods or map mods, see a wave from the Altar and i explode in a one shot. I literally do not fucking understand what the fuck is going on, i figured whatever it was was tied to "Monsters Enrage" and some issues with rare spawns during that trial but clearly thats not the case.

Let me say this for starters. I literally havent died to that shit since they "fixed" rare monster spawns. Now its been twice in a row to literally nothing. And i literally mean, literally nothing.

I kill too quickly for monsters to even have a chance to do anything and i have rampage active so anything that could possibly even attempt to hit me is immediately pulled off because of the animated weapons.

Anyone else ? Im actually pretty fucking heated about this because theres literally fucking nothing to kill me, either times. Monsters enrage im fully aware of potential one shots but i havent been one shot in a monsters enrage even on multi-damage mod maps with actual hard trial mods picked, literally since the rare changes.

The only thing i can POSSIBLY think of now, is im dying to a corpse explosion which shouldnt be possible because ultimatum mobs dont leave corpses. Im pretty fucking confused now when dying while NO MONSTERS are on screen at all.

Guess im going to start recording in shadowplay every damn ultimatum now.

Would you be willing to unhide your characters?

Instant death with no (apparent) monsters on screen sounds a lot like Reflected Damage to me. I believe a common mistake is assuming that 100% reduced reflected damage taken is enough to become reflect immune; this is not the case because reduced is additive with increased damage taken, which means you can lose your "immunity" as easily as getting Shocked, cursed with Vulnerability, Despair, etc.

I die all the time with no monster on screen due to ground effects. They are either delayed too much, very hard to see or bug out and are invisible.

Not unhiding my characters, has nothing to do with my build, gear or characters whatsoever. Im a trapper, i can do all mods, reflect doesnt affect me. Last map this happened on was Flooded Mines with like 60 inc enfeeble, 90~% extra damage, beyond etc. Jack shit compared to other mods ive run in higher tier corrupted maps and did the ultimatums within them with no issue.

Every time ive died to this shit it looks like a warcry wave from the altar and next thing i know im fucking dead. Doesnt matter how much raw or EHP i have.

Gonna reiterate cause its kinda getting glazed over but i literally died with no monsters on screen so there is quite literally nothing that could hit me to deal that damage in the first place.

I wouldnt be here complaining about it if i knew that it was a preventable death and not a bull shit death. Im fully capable of understanding that dying CAN be my fault. This isnt one of those times because, technically two of those times, since it both consecutive deaths had the exact same thing happen.

Not ground effects for sure but im leaning towards theres still bugged interactions or i must be dying to an invisible monster on an obscene physical hit.

Outside of that, corpse explosion is the only thing i can possibly think of as an interaction that would one shot me in this way, which would be a bug because theres no corpses for them to use... But yeah, like i said, im legitimately confused because my screen was empty in both instances.

Funny thing is, pre-rare nerf i had more HP, 6.5k on that version of my character. After doing enough content and ultimatums after the rare monster changes i found that i wasnt taking anywhere near enough damage on a hit to warrant a 6.5k raw hp pool on this character. Ive been able to do everything just fine on 5.2k no issues. I literally dropped HP because i didnt need it.

Also RIP to my belt i just realized i vendored on accident while rage posting this. Now i need a new belt. I was swapping to Biscos to hold rampage into Ulti activation.

1. Ruin doesn't kill you
2. You wouldn't gain any Ruin stacks if there were "literally no monsters on screen"

No idea why Tin_Foil_Hat is getting one-shot by nothing when this has never once happened to me.

I heard a streamer mention this before as well, that the altar gives off a wave that one-shots you. Never experienced it myself, but def heard it. Yet another situation where a death log would be helpful.
Its happened so many times it no longer bothers me.

Just gotta take the game for what it is now

Yeah ive seen some mention it, then other laugh it off like it doesnt exist even though theres similar clips showing it, yet literally no one actually knows whats happening or how it works. Ive seen a few of the clips as well and was under the impression it was the monkeys or tribal guys wind ups but after dying to literally "nothing" on screen i can safely say thats also incorrect. Ive taken slams from both the monkey and tribal guys as well, they hit hard but it is no where near a one shot even with Escalating damage on damaged modified maps.

There has to be a bug with the rares still that only happens under the right conditions.

Ive wanted a death log for quite some time now but im under the impression the reason they still havent added it, is for one reason and one reason only. They dont want us to see that there are plenty of completely bullshit death circumstances that are completely not our fault at all.
