What is POE to you

PoE used to be an amazing experience:

Now, it's zoom zoom maps, and wait for your item filter to make a sound so you know you found something! The itemization and looting experience is so engaging and invigorating, the true aRPG experience!

The game i want to play, but everything ends up the same.

I really like lvling up and making a char, but in the end i wish i didnt waste my time.

Its a great game, dont get me wrong. But current desing needs to be changed. New map bosses are basically poe2 beta types, they are really bad in comparison.

I remember them saying we have 100 bad bosses, then made them worse

Suppose its because of quarantine and lack of professional coders in NZ. They have quite cool artists, but not tech staff.

It has nothing to do with professional coders in NZ, it has to do with video game programmers in NZ. You can be a professional programmer and have very basic knowledge of game development/engine techniques.

NZ is not like the US and Europe where you can find a job as an engine programmer/game dev because there are so many studios. There are only a couple in NZ - so very limited jobs.

You can be the best programmer in the world but if you can't solve the problem then you are useless if given the problem. No amount of progamming experience will help.

NZ and GGG have a problem of finding people with experience in solving problems relating to game development, not people with lack of programming expertise.

POE IS NOTHING TO ME. Played this the first time in 2015. Took one week to play to end of content. Couldn't fking believe it. Then had to play it again on harder level. And then once more on the hardest level. Took altogether 3 weeks lol. Was good in 2017 when they added the new acts. Play it once in a while when a new league comes along. After this last expansion, it is obvious that this is only a platform for streamers. So I'm not playing it.

To me POE is a form of anti depressant. In that it helps curb my major depression by distracting my brain with questions along the lines of "how do I find the balance between DPS and Survivability?"

Sincerely Kat.
PoE was something I loved for the difficulty and always tried to get my friends to play. After a couple league break (having a daughter) I come back and now im completely lost to the content.

Everything seems so different. Did becoming a dad make me instantly oblivious to mechanics?

I have no idea what happened to the shaper and the elder, which was the end game i looked forward to. I have zero idea how to find new end game boss content. I have no idea how to obtain or use any of the new currency. Awakened stuff? Ritual vessels? New types of lab offerings? I just blindly use items for challenges and stumble through the atlas hoping something clicks.

In case anyone was going to read this and offer advice, do you still have to cull your menagerie? I vaguely remember it being able to fill up. Do you have to get rid of beasts you dont want in order to get beasts that will help you unlock bestiary boss portals?

So many questions. That's what PoE is to me.
PoE is a hobby.

Some think it is a game, those people are fooling themselves.
Poe is a way of being creative, building a character and developing it allows me to create something in a great world, the world of Wraeclast. I love obliterating waves of mobs and deleting bosses. I can be a reckless Ranger or a magic wielding Shadow.

But. The game is so frustrating. So many convoluted mechanics. The likes of the Lab is so annoying when all you want to do is kill stuff. Like many things in PoE on paper it's a cool idea but in reality it's not. The Atlas is a great idea but it is tedious and time consuming to advance through it, many parts are gated off through RNG. Dying in the game is not fun either, nearly every death feels unfair and random. Too much of PoE is built around RNG and it's starting to feel lazier and lazier.

Despite all of the above when things work together and your exile is 'finished' I feel the urge to do it all again. So PoE is a flawed gem of a game but one I like to while away the hours playing.

It could be far better and that is one thing, at the end of the day, I find so frustrating.
For me PoE is an exemplary victim of quarterly capitalism.
