[3.12 Heist] Help me build the best selfcast ignite discharger

For endurance charge generation!

How about juggernaut for ignite selfcast discharge starter?

Played Juggernaut Discharge a few leagues ago as CwC Character, but the dmg wasnt that great. Tankiness, survivability and end charge generation is great, but it lacks lots of damage compared to the selfcast elementalist.

I rather start as flameblast/fireball ignite elementalist and swap to discharge after Farrul's than play 2 characters.

Good for Juggernaut with his unflinching ascendancy, but not good on elementalist.

you are better of going chieftain if you want to start with this as it has inbuild endurance charge generation. You can get 6 endurance charges without a problem (7 with anointment) and just have a massive fire damage hit for the ignite. No need for stormfire, Hrimburn or Farrul's fur, which are all required for the elementalist build to work.

Besides a lot of the pros from elementalist aren't that amazing:

skitterbots does the same as your chil/shock from Beacon of Ruim. You dont really got another aura to use anyway besides malevolance.

Your golems will die in high red maps.

Chieftain gives better defenses: 10% of physical damage taken as fire, and a shit ton of regen.

Better damage (25% fire damage multiplier, 10% more from Cover enemies in Ash, 15% more from losing an endurance charge in the last 8 secs)

The only thing you miss are no immunity against chill/freez and shock, and some crit change/cast speed. Which would be nice but atleast it doesn't require for your golems to be up 24/7.

Besides you can still transition into all the stormfire, Hrimburn, Farrul's fur gear later on and be totally fine.

I dont think the charge generation from chieftain is that good. Maybe with Enduring Composure, instant warcrys + second wind ... but I dont think it's that good.

Swapping to farrul's, hrimburn and stormfire is also not worth it, cause you wont make it from marauder start to shadow area for the extra charges. More likely for you to go to duelist area and max out your defenses and enduranca charges.

Golems dying in red maps could be a problem, but I only need 3 up for 100% ailment immunity and can resummon before bosses.

Better damage is no argument cause 18 charge discharge + golems beats the 9 end charge Chieftain easy.

Defencewise Marauder is better. No matter if you take Juggernaut or Chieftain.
But I want the big damage and potential oneshots on every boss. I dont think marauder can do this, but maybe I'm wrong.

In addition levelling a marauder using spells is really painful and I dislike levelling with 2 handed meelee weapons and then swap to spells later on :D

You dont require max charges for clearing. With the cooldown of discharge you will always restore 2 charges between cooldowns from the ascendancy, and enduring cry only has 2.8s cd with some cry nodes. It will be fine for clearing. And yes you would go instant cry and some cooldown recovery.

You would swap to all the items the elementalist uses as you can drop the whole enduring cry set-up and all the warcry nodes and especially save the nodes from travveling to instant warcries. Yes you won't get the frenzy/power charge at the shadow area, but you will have 2 more endurance charges instead (from marauder area and the chieftain ascendancy). Farrul's gives you 8 extra charges which is way to good to pass on.

Your golems will die in the hardest part of the game, exactly the part you will need them the most. It has always been a problem with support golems, and why it aint that popular to run golem supports. They are amazing till high red maps but it just sucks they will die in the hardest part of the game (especially against some of the nasty end game bosses).

The high end damage will be roughly the same. For comparising here are the two PoB's a bit optimised. I turned on some stuff for the elementalist. For the chieftain i replaced essence worm with an opal ring as you wouldnt go MoM as a chieftain and don't need essence worm. Use the community fork PoB with it:

And dont you get some spells as a marauder? Pretty sure you can buy fireball and magma orb early on. Not amazing but better then going melee if you dont like it. Worst case you would roll a witch/templar as a mule to get some spells.

And here is your elementalist build with the right stuff ticked on:

https://pastebin.com/LeYHZrhU

Compared to elementalist damage is roughly the same (chieftain is a tad higher if you use fire golem with the helm enchant, and a tad lower if you dont).

Survivability is comparable but you aren't reliable on your golems at all. Better regen for chieftain but ailment immunity for elementalist.

But the main part is you can transition into this build over time. The main issue i got with going elementalist is you can't play the build till you got farrul's fur and atleast stormfire of Hrimburn.

Just to show the end damage:

Here is the chieftain version of the build you linked. I only replaced the essence worm to a stormfire ring, as you dont need that if you aren't going essence worm (use the community PoB for the stuff to work properly):

Its fine if you wanna run this build later on in the league but as a league starter its chieftain all the way.

This is the build i'm going for. Properly switch to discharge after cruel lab. It's a level 85 tree so you can go for more health if you want or pick up the cluster jewel slot between templar and witch:

if my math is correct you will end up with around 400-450k ignite dps while being completely naked.

I'm considering going Elementalist version but what would be the best way to generate power charges for bosses? Blue Dream only works on kill so not really a good generation method for bossing.

you need farrul's fur and voll's devotion. Without you wont have charges for bosses.

Normally your golems dont die if you kill everything first. Before bossing you just resummon them.
For sure chieftain is the easier leaguestarter, cause the transition is more smooth. As elementalist you gotta farm as ignite fireball/flameblast till you can afford voll's, farrul's, blue dream and stormfire.
But I think it is quite affordable this league and I dont mind playing a bit of flameblast for now.

And dont underestimate the damage and defence buffs with golems, they are really good.
As upgrade my current gear and skill tree.
Levelled very smoothly to level 84 but it's still a grind to farrul's and voll's devotion. Will keep playing as flameblast farming for good drops.
I'm not using the vaal rf atm, cause war banner + vaal flameblast shreds everything.
