The recent build/ascendancy balance is hilarious

GGG have always been terrible at game balace sadly its why if you look on POE ninja almost everyone who gets over lvl 97 is playing the same build. For all its options this ARPG has the least viable build variety in its top players than any other RRPG on the market, its a serious problem.

They could do better on balance but the reason PoE Ninja is populated by the same builds is most players follow the path of least resistance, that will always be a problem. Most also don't have the time/willpower/creativity to make their own builds and want to just have fun which requires a quick copy pasta.

As several people have touched upon: Perfect balance is impossible. My left shoe would understand that. And when it comes to the majority of Ninja-indexed players, they are "path of least resistance" players, and as long as a build has a 1% better potential than another, they would choose it. And GGG can't balance that 1%. It cannot be done, without making all builds play, feel and build the same.

That said, I still think there's too many skills that wouldn't reach the top skills up to their knees. That said (once more), they did revamp Slam skills in Harvest, and actually managed to make the viable AND different. Not my cup of tea personally, but it is an option - and options are good. This league, they have revamped Steel skills. Lets hope they've managed to do the same thing: Make them viable AND different.

The reason the "usual suspects" are the best skills league in and league out, has to do with machanics and not necessarily numbers. And to mechanically revamp/buff skills, takes time. But I do wish they threw some number compensation to mechanically inferior skills more often.
