Nope. There's lots of good reasons to support the penalty. It makes play meaningful. No penalty leads to a boring grind.

We like the feeling of overcoming frustration. Removing the sources of frustration also remove the rewards felt when beating it.

I dont think anyone is arguing the penalty should exist in some format, but you didnt address the fact the end result is pretty stupid. Avoid all challenging content, run repetitive content over and over for a few days.

Shouldnt the system reward challenging yourself and hard content.

It does reward you. If you think about experience as a "reward" just dont die.

The end result is that it has made a game people have been playing for over 5 years and turned a small start up into a hundred million dollar company. They know what they're doing.

Another way to avoid actually facing any discussion, using an argument you could reply to absolutely any criticism of the game. I could counter that there are many more successful games even in the genre, etc. etc. showing not everything is perfect, but its so vague its a stupid argument on both sides.

I briefly forgot why its useless responding to you.

The only thing to learn from wolcen is:
DON'T fuck up the launch completely by releasing a bug compilation that isn't even an alpha.
German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!
torturo: "Though, I'm really concerned, knowing by practice the capabilities of the balance team."
top2000: "let me bend your rear for a moment exile"

You are rewarded for doing difficult content. With a loot, currency and so on. IF you die to it, its your build problem (and your gaming skill). You either sacrifice EXP for currency (if you are bad enough to die) or you are not doing "harder content".

Honestly this thread can be summed up with "I want to do harder content but Im bad so I cant level up at the same time. GGG neeeds to change this!"

LOL! gAmING sKiLlz eL33T!

Pretty sure this dude has brain damage.

No one cares about Wolcen. The game tanked and is dropping super fast, move on...

Also PoE gives you 6 lives per map, Wolcen gives you only 4.

I think the best way to look at this is PoE gives you X amount of lives per level. As people are saying, you can get to 90 on damn near any build. To get to 91 you just need to die less than your experience gain (which is true for all the levels). That might mean you can afford 20 deaths out of 50 maps, or what have you. And that curve reaches its most unforgiving from 99 to 100.
"On top of that, the death penalty after Lvl 90 is just too discouraging"
thats so true.

i think ggg should break the 10 levels from 90 to 100 and spread the amount of experience along more 20~30 levels.

like the maximum level should be 120~130. but with same amount of experience compared with nowadays, at least we would feel that we are not stucked forever in the same level and dying would be less punishing

after 90's this game experience start to be depressing asf if you are not playing a HC build.

Can you explain how you won't be making the exact same post about your level 110 character never progressing past 110 or 111 and being stuck there?

Only too discouraging after level 90? Is this still not easy enough? It means you don't get any REAL punishment until Level 90. This makes me worry about PoE punishment in the early and mid-game, I believe most player doesn't care why or how the character died because the penalty is meaningless.
