One thing to take from Wolcen - I hope for PoE2

That's your OWN choice. You quite literally admit you COULD do something about being one shot, but you'd rather go faster and die a lot. Its that you rarely get to make useful, interesting choices DURING gameplay. You make them in design, but once you are playing, you already know you will occassionally get oneshot or you built a massive tanky build that can mitigate or soak the random massive hits. Thats not 'hardcore'. Its RNG. What I am suggesting is that the game is more fun when you are a in a fight like Uber Elder - where dodging, choosing locations for degen ground, and fight knowledge matter a lot. That I think is the pinnacle of PoE and it was doable with a 4k hp build if you played smart. (I know, someone did it with 1.2k hp, so less is possible, I mean normal gaming.) |

What I get after reading this thread.
1/ 1-shot lover/ defender rarely have any character past 90. So they don't feel the pain of dying on a high lvl one. 2/ 1-shot lover/ defender state that the game actually have some mechanic which can prevent 1-shot. No, playing long enough and you will understand that if all the stars align correctly, no matter how much, how many layers of defense you have, you will get 1-shot, unpredictable, and unpreventable. But wait, there are people on HC get to 100. Well, it doesn't mean ALL of HC players getting to 100, it just mean those who still alive in HC haven't get their share of bad moment yet until they hit 100. 3/ Also, if you talk about how hard the boss is, you don't know this game, 99.99% of 1 shot mechanic happen in map, in a random pack you never know. Boss is extremely easy. That said, this is how this game was and will be since day 1. You either live with it, or play another game. Frustration and agony is one of the main part of this game, set it aside from other games. You may hate it, others love it, it won't change. And actually, imo, there is no right or wrong about this. I think you need to learn how to read. People are not defending "one shots" and thats not what OP wants to change. OP wants to change penalty for dying and we are defendinf that last bit of "penalty" for doing so.
Yes, oneshots are bullshit, but at this point its literally the only way fro GGG to kill us. For them to fix it (w/o making us literally immortal)they would need to rework this game so much I bet half of the playerbase would leave. (read: they would need to slow this game by a lot, and I mean A LOT) |

There needs to be a death penalty - I am absolutely certain that is a good thing. During leveling as we all know it is no big deal. Heck up to level 90 I think GGG has hit the mark.
But, as we all painfully know it is brutal to level up after that and many if not most people totally adjust their play style based on the death penalty and not the content. That is wrong. You should be rewarded (or less penalized if you prefer that term) for taking on more difficult content. The easy and what I suspect would be 99% popular move would be to half the penalty after level 90. The 1% can screw themselves because we know what their deal is - But all that being said, we all are aware (those who have watched the developer videos) that GGG wants to slow down progression as a basic part of the game. That is their rationale for trade being difficult and I have come around to that. But this game is supposed to be fun and as the OP mentioned it is brutal to be one-shotted or just dying trying to learn a new boss fight. And this is to GGG. I have played since 2013 and I love the game. Every league I get to 92 and call it a day on that particular character or the league. And that 91 to 92 takes a fair amount of time because that is when I am pushing content. If you want us to play longer and be happier fix the death penalty. I like the death penalty but it is dumb that when grinding to 100 you just avoid hard content.
Maybe the death penalty should be related to the curse efficacy. If you die in any map where the boss has a 75% reduction in your curses, you get 75% less penalty. I think if you kill uber elder or that terrible Sirus fight now 5 times, you should get more experience than 5 normal maps, but on average you will actually go backwards. |

Stop creating new league server every new patch. Apply it to standard, we dun wan our character slot to have 4 character a years. Here not dota Or league of legend game reset every 40minit-1hours,i dun wan start over from level1 just to enjoy new content, ppl found it fun but i feel it is so ridiculous. Just sell us the league skin, but not doing 3 month challenge just for da skin. Online games suppose to be longer u played stronger u will be, but not longer u played more character more remove only stash u will have.

Wolcen is still so clunky that you NEED that many lives to complete some maps. Mobs gang-bonging you from offscreen and boss fights so god damn broken and bullshit it makes most things in PoE blush.

You are rewarded for doing difficult content. With a loot, currency and so on. IF you die to it, its your build problem (and your gaming skill). You either sacrifice EXP for currency (if you are bad enough to die) or you are not doing "harder content".
Honestly this thread can be summed up with "I want to do harder content but Im bad so I cant level up at the same time. GGG neeeds to change this!" |
