I play HC too and lost several characters. All of them died to charging Rhoa's. It's just sad that such a great game with Devs that listen to their playerbase so much still don't see that this is just plain silly. I really don't understand why people accept it.

You can blame it on not having enfeeble up, dsync or whatever but it doesn't change the fact that a LVL94!! character which has survived all the way there so obviously he's very skilled can still get killed just as easy a lower level character.

That is a prime example of broken game mechanics.


It's not broken. I for one am extremely glad that even level 94 characters can get one-shot. The game is easy enough as it is in a full group of ranged characters where everyone is packing so many auras they look like christmas trees, whilst sitting behind a wall of totems.

No it's not. It's perfectly fine, you only have to AVOID the hit. That hit is not meant to be tanked and it's that way since Cruel difficulty Vaal, why should be any different in maps? You should have learned the lesson by then, avoid the freaking hit.

That death was simply outstanding stupidity, that's about it. When someone with 7 endurance charges, high armour and 11k HP is getting hit by 6.5k you simply don't go and take the hit (if it's a crit you are going to die anyway with 11k).

There is always a bunch load of excuses for deaths, but most deaths can be avoided on player end is you asses the situation correctly and proceed cautiously. There are some legit desync + stack shoot situations, but these are very minor. Most deaths happen in situations you didn't expect, not even in "dangerous" situations, or because the players were actively seeking to die (like this one, or when the OB started Byr #1 died to reflect with EK, when he knew he was going to die in that map).

Sure you can't go around with 1000 life in this game, so what; that leaves you plenty of room to stack a balance of offensive and defensive nodes and affixes in gear. If you don't know how to build balanced characters and how the mechanics work and scale you deserve to die. Getting a lot of life is not going to save you from your own stupidity.


All that said, the amount of entitled judging and imbecility some of the posters in this thread have reached is outstanding. Keep it guys, you are reaching new highs in the scale of retardation due to your own inferiority complex, and just for that, you are truly scrubs (not because your achievements in-game), you can't get much worse than that.

i have 4 HC characters all above lvl70

i can't even remember the last time i died... it was at least 10 weeks ago i think... don't even care

i think it's awesome that a geared lvl94 character can still get one shot by stuff. this game is amazing.

if you're too lazy to dodge a 10 second charge up vaal slam, then you deserve to die, no matter what level you are...

I still play HC even though I died a few times. I'm not complaining about my own deaths and have never done that either. With a game this prone to desync anyone would've died in that situation.

If you listen to the stream after he died he wasn't next to Vaal on his screen.

But w/e, I just think it's broken that an almost maxed out (and obviously very skilled to have reached lvl94) character could've only survived if he had worn one specific kind of armor (Koam's).

I don't understand the statement of saying it's a broken mechanic that a level 94 char can be 1 shotted. Would you rather play a game where every boss is just tank and spank? It gets boring fast I can assure you.
I play in default and just cleared Act 1 on my marauderer, that was easier then I thought after reading all the comments how hard it was or should be according to some. Later finished the 1st Act on my cold witch. Thought I could also jump in like my marauderer to kill the Merveil, almost died, portal back to town to refill potions and adjust my plans. Went a lot better with a bit of planning.
So far I am enjoying the game, sometimes you run into more then is healthy for your chars health. Run back, adjust and dive in again prepared. Works a lot better and keeps the game far more interesting then just mashing your keyboard and survive every fight you encounter.

All the best to Kerkrom. I don't follow the HC ladder, but it's never easy to see something dissapear you enjoyed building towards.
Pretty insane reaching reaching 94 without a single death. Just listening to how he spoke on various streams he knew his limitations better than most.

Not sure which game you're playing, but it's usually more of a 2-3 second wind-up when I face Vaal Oversoul for that slam. More than enough time if you're not, yknow, playing from Australia with 230-500 ping at all times. ^_^
