What's The Noobest Thing You've Done - A Tutorial

That Exalted Orb I found in Act 1 when I first started playing? I used it on a leveling rare. It added nothing particular good. "Neat but useless." I thought and went on my merry way.
"Into the Labyrinth!
left step, right step, step step, left left.
Into the Labyrinth!"
Early in my POE career:

Vendored Soul Taker as trash item around the time when it first came out. Mostly played summoner builds back then, mana was never a problem.

An exile explained the purpose of Exalted orb is to "add an additional POWERFUL mod" on any rare, generally used by pros to make powerful leveling gears. He sold an EX for 6 divine and 10 chaos orb. I was thankful for his help, used it on a low level rare belt. Rolled for +3 life :).

In my first party play, leader instructed us to stay away as far as possible because he needs to draw aggro as a tank, we dps later. Coming from WoW raiding - instruction made kind of sense. Same day i got kicked out several times from other groups for not staying together. Took me a while to understand the concept of "Free for all" mechanic and the abuse of it.

Spiked Gloves - 20%
atack speed max roll
phys dmg max roll
life near to max roll
2x 40% res

Enchant through uber lab device :)))
Ugh. The spiked gloves.

I do it every, single, league. At least once. I just enchanted a nice pair of boots in lab, got the enchant I absolutely 100% needed.. then realized I can't enchant movement speed on them so I'm an absolute slug in the first league I wanted to be fast in.

It pretty much boils down to crafting and gear. I still don't understand any of it but luckily in my case, ignorance is bliss and I still have a blast.
Oh, I remember my worst moment in PoE like it was yesterday.
Surprisingly enough, it wasn't yesterday. Nope. I'm really smart now.

It was april 2014, Standard league, on a lvl 33 Ranger, when I got my first Exalted orb drop.
The bow I was using was a lvl 27 rare bow, 4 link, with some elemental damage, increased phys and critical chance. Pretty decent bow for the level. Instead of, you know, replacing it 10 lvls later, I decided to try to make it better by rolling it's last suffix on with my new-found Exalted orb. That would absolutely be worth it, right? Right! Right...

...Sooo, yup. That happened. And now you all know.
Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more.

'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league.
Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave.

After beginning I was extremely lucky, before end of the campaign I had about 5 or 6 exalted orbs. They.. just dropped from monsters. So I thought, they have to be quite common and spent all of them to "upgrade" some utter crap.

Then I levelled duelist and ranger to level 84, without any ascendancy. I had no idea that the passage of the labyrinth would provide me with some additional benefits and I thought, other "pictures" of characters are just.. MTX.

Then I decided to finish labyrinth, but I started from... uber lab. It was possible these days :) So I finished all trials on maps and... went to lab with my glorious 2900 life ranger. And I even managed to kill first Izaro! Sadly, I was run out of offerings soon, which stopped me from making any more senseless attempts.

killing myself with a caustic mana flask.
Calculating stats on my items one day to see what I can shift to get 30%MS on my boots, figure out I need an extra 40% Lightning res on my belt to make it work.

Go take a break for a couple hours to do some gardening, come back and see my scribbled notes in my pad that say: "Shuffles fine, 40 res on belt." Go buy a 2 Ex 40 cold res belt on poetrade, subsequently equip it and see I have 35 lightning res.

Souls along a conduit of blood, from one vessel to the next.
Farming merviel, vendoring for alts and selling them for chaos... damn it, when I could make fuses!!!
