What's The Noobest Thing You've Done - A Tutorial

I was chuckling at a memory of myself in PoE earlier and decided to post it.

I thought I would do it by asking this question: What is the noobest thing you've done in PoE. Early or late in your game life, doesn't matter.

I thought it could also serve as an amusing but valuable tutorial for the new player.

Mine: For the longest time I had no idea what item level (ilvl) meant. I just thought it was required level. So when I found out about the chaos and regal recipes, I started gathering equipment based on required level above 60 and 75.

Do you know how many rings or amulets are required level greater than 60, let alone 75? Approaching zero. I seem to recall finishing one set, and wondering why this chaos recipe was such a big deal.

I heard "Kaom's" was one of the most rare and expensive items in the game. Naturally, the very first time I dropped a Kaom's Sign, much excitement was to be had... and then, after sharing with Global chat... much disappointment.

I think a lot of us did that at an early stage of playing but when I started playing I used to pick every skill gems up as if their drop was kind of a big deal since it was "unlocking" a new ability.

Later I discovered how easy it was to acquire almost all of them from NPC... I had tabs of them...

My 2nd character was a Scion Mind over Matter and Chaos Inoculation build. This was when MoM was at the bottom of the tree, below duelist. Long run across the tree to learn words matter in this game. (MoM doesn’t work with CI for any noobs waiting to make that mistake too).

I once spammed my entire jewelers orb pile to 4 socket an item, not knowing it wont stop at 4 automatically...

I had an exalt drop around level 54 on my first character. I read the description & promptly used it on my 4L rare BP. I was very excited that it had another mod.

flashback: Getting tired after long sessions and getting lazy about reading map mods only to instagib myself to ele reflect mod because i wasn't aware enough to even notice it.

*was a poets pen build. so straight forward that it makes you sleepy.

I told one of my friends to divine a double legacy reach of the council during legacy league in pure ignorance of what that would do.

I liquidated my items and gave him ~15 exalt after.

Storing my gems inside items, in stash.

Still doing that, but at least now it's high quality/level ones or drop-only (Empower, IIR).
And we have a search option.
And we have a vendor for normal gems.

Back then we had neither, so "where did I put that Heavy Strike?" was a thing which burned hours.
