I just noticed a number of people talking about 'their GF's submissions' to the 'Hidden Talent' contest. I'm not-so-subtly having a dig at the inherent flaws of 'community talent' competitions online where 'the community' becomes a very flexible term indeed. They remind me of official contests where people can vote more than once. That's nothing more than a popularity poll. It's all just scraping the bottom of the barrel. A very old, very rotten barrel. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I was waiting for this thread to materialize, but since everyone wants to be all illuminate-- Ill just come out and explain.
It originates from Reddit threads of players having their girlfriends do artwork for the talent contest. I'm guessing one or two were included in GGG's highlight announcement thread, thus conceiving this threads title. Hope this clears things up. |

Well , I understand this thread since I post some art every now and then.
The talented "waifu" thread to attract Leddit attention and gather votes... yea it became a contest of who have the most "likes" in there. Also it beg the question: could I ask a pro artist to commission art for me and I post it? seems sketchy because the GF thread is essentially commissioned art in some instances if the GF do not even play poe. I'm just glad the husbando can't abuse my talents for stuff like this, particularly since my only real talents are over-analyzing things to death, mashing buttons, and being a charming arse.
While I'm 100% sure there is a way to monetize this particular set of skills, I'm not entirely sure winning a talent competition with them is in the deck. Or that it'd be an entirely legal proposition. ...sure as heck can't use my cooking or art skills. Not if you want survivors anyway. |
