How is this more efficient ? You're using 3 more points than the regular build pathing. Getting Fury bolts with the original tree would only cost 2 points.

I spent some more points but get 3 proj dmg nodes, fury bolts and an additional leech node.

Hey what do you think about using Farrul's Fur over Kaom's Heart as it provides pretty good defenses against spell damage as you mentioned in one of your earlier replies that dealing with spell damage was an issue and therefore you were using a kaom's heart.

My gut feel is that Kaom's is going to be better - you give up a lot of life switching to some other chest - life is good against physical damage and spell damage.

Another point in favor of Kaom's - is that much more experienced gamers than I (e.g., competent streamers, build guide authors) are using Kaom's.

But, the game evolves over time - and competent players may over look new items.
====
Considering a different chest, versus Kaom's, and not sure what to do?

Several approaches come to mind:
1) Accept the status quo - don't switch from Kaom's unless the community as a whole embraces some other chest as better;
2) Model the new chest in an effective-life calculator, gauging how well the new chest performs against both physical damage and spell damage mobs. If the effective life of the new chest is better, then use it;
3) Just try it out - run some maps with high spell damage bosses and high physical damage bosses - empirically determine for yourself which chest piece you prefer; if your new chest/gear is better because of better life leech, then #2 above might, or might not, reflect the full benefit, so empirical testing may be required.
4) Try 2 or 3 above - perhaps a certain chest is far better against spell damage than Kaom's but isn't great overall and/or against physical damage. In that case, switch chest pieces depending on the content/boss you are fighting.
====
TL/DR - Probably Kaom's is better overall, but that's just my gut instinct. I may well be wrong.

The important node is Fury bolts and you can get that with 2 points in the original tree instead of 3 nodes in your tree. The extra leech isn't really helpful since we're capped at 20% anyway and take no nodes to increase that. In any case if you spend an extra point on the original tree you can get that too.

So basically what you've done is substituted a travel node with a 10% proj damage node (which is good but hardly noticeable) and have made a tree that requires you to get a higher level in order to get the same nodes as the original tree.

So for someone willing to go to level 96 (in order to complete the life wheel) your tree is slightly better. For anyone not wanting to go that far the original tree is better.

In the videos OP uses molten strike for both map clear and bossing.

Is it that much better than tectonic slam? I thought maybe slam would have been better at least for map clearing.

It is better. And using two separate skills enables you to tune your MS just for single target which makes it a lot better.

However TS is sort of a middle ground between clearing and bossing so a lot of people (myself included) abandoned it. Once you go frost (blades) you never go back :P

You continue to be wrong about this. The OG tree uses 7 travel points along the bottom, he drops all of those, uses 5 travel points in the new path, and the TWO not one, extra points are 20% proj damage, not 10%.

I continue to be right about this since this new tree requires you to go to level 96 in order to get everything. If you can understand my post you will see that at that level it is indeed a bit more efficient (if you only look at damage). However for someone (like me) who doesn't intend to level that high the original tree allows you to get the important keystones at a lower level.
With the original tree you get everything (including Fury bolts) at level 95. You can also stop at level 93 if you don't want Fury bolts. With the new tree you need to get to 96.
Personally I've done something even better (in my case). I've dropped Acuity and got Fury bolts saving a point at level 92. You can't possibly do this with the new tree !

With my gear:

Original tree, 317K Shaper DPS, 7750 Life (lvl 96)

New tree 318K DPS, 7677 Life (lvl 96)

You see that you get a minimal increase in DPS (0,3%) and you lose a bit of life (73). In this case that amount of life is better than the insignificant damage increase.

My setup now, mod from this build

I like to use the battering glove since it give me 32% damage @ 8 endurance charge, and my 6 link Ancestral Protector, just running on uber lab today , only 5k hp but its enough to roam lab
The gloves give you melee damage. This only helps the initial hit of MS, not the projectiles.
