But like the title says, literally never made it 90 with any character in all of my playtime. I do my best to craft some builds, and follow others guides from time to time. But its never seemed to work. No matter how hard I try, I just die and lose hours worth of XP and never make it to 90 lol.

Just as a point of order ... It's possible to see the global achievement stats on Steam. Now, Steam is only a subset of the player base, but there's no reason to think they aren't indicative of the whole.

Despite what you might think from reading these forums, most people never even reach level 80, let alone 90.

Only about 6% of the player base has ever gotten the level 80 Achievement (and that's UP since the introduction of 3.0, it used to be 5%).

Less that 2% have ever gotten the level 90 Achievements.

Wow, really? I never thought reaching 90+ was not that hard for the long time players, since I read that some other players can reach to 100 in just days, especially in events & race. This made me proud for reaching 90 in my first character when I started playing this game when Harbinger started.

And regarding to OP's post, I agree with the others, if your goal was to just level up, & you don't have plenty of currency & you just want to play alone, just stick to safe Tier maps. Just farm T9-11 same as I do when I level up from 85-90. It's slow but you get there eventually. It's better to be safe than sorry.
"A game IS supposed to waste your time but it's not supposed to make you FEEL like you're wasting your time:
It's supposed to make you WANT to waste your time."
Reaching 100 in a couple days takes a play style most players are unwilling, or unable, to do. It's not just "play the game and it will happen".
OP, you are not alone, or unique! But thanks for posting (seriously this is not sarcasm!).

I was years up to Legacy before I did a character to 90, and 91 is still my highest level reached.

I am just now leveling up a Frostblade Raider that I love to play, but has sub-par boss-killing capabilities. So, like others, I generally skip the bosses.

But, to your point, this character leveled quickly to 70, and even in the early 80's she saw great exp gains in maps I was doing up to T13. Even with the occasional death I was hovering around 100 MM exp per hour.

Around level 88 you really hit a wall. Maybe 87 but it is 88 to 89 where you really start seeing diminished returns on exp per hour, and the effect of a single death really starts to wear.

You go from 2-3 levels a moderate play session to a fraction of a level. Someone did an analysis in that your leveling experience to 100 was HALF DONE at level 91 or something? The design of the exp curve is incredibly punishing at level 88+.

Essentially there is an exp penalty once you exceed the level of a map, so that by the time you are level 85 you are there. And every level above that makes it worse. There is a matrix out there if you google it.

Okay, long wall of text. As stated, your best bet is grind T10 maps through level 89 if you are scared-ish. You get maybe 3-4% of a level per, if you roll 10%+ pack size. And if you are like me, you still die from time to time even with a great character, even on T10 maps. So keep at it if you want the achieve.
It'll be potion management, you can hit 90 comfortably in mid tier maps and the only defence you need in mid tier maps is correct potion management, if your running 5x health potions your doing it wrong make sure you abuse how strong pots are each and every pack to reduce your incoming damage and just play safe.

As others have said skip the boss if you think its dangerous, quite a few are pretty easy, quite a few are challenging with your average build learn to tell the difference (the wiki has a relatively accurate difficulty scale for bosses) and you can stop dying. Good luck OP don't give in!
