Never made it past lvl 89 in 2+ years
" Just as a point of order ... It's possible to see the global achievement stats on Steam. Now, Steam is only a subset of the player base, but there's no reason to think they aren't indicative of the whole. Despite what you might think from reading these forums, most people never even reach level 80, let alone 90. Only about 6% of the player base has ever gotten the level 80 Achievement (and that's UP since the introduction of 3.0, it used to be 5%). Less that 2% have ever gotten the level 90 Achievements. 'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

I have to say i find it a bit hard to get from 87ish to 90 to but i have the time to just keep grinding so thats most likely why i have chars over 90
To me i would have to say just roll a block char... you will still die to hard stuff just not as much i find Block chars can be kinda hard to get endgame gear for since you need like 2-3 hard to get items and most of your gear are uniques you also may not have as much life so your more likely to get 1 shot if your block fails Block chars also have lower dps and you will have bad dps till you get a good axe but once your build is about done you should have any where from 60 to 120k (120k is pushing it i find id say around 85k) You can take a look at my block char thats pretty good Char Riwigo https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Lynerus/characters Last edited by Lynerus#6363 on Nov 13, 2017, 8:02:58 PM

I know it's sounds crazy..
pick a favourite red map, roll non-rippy mods. Clear as soon as humanly possible...repeat till lvl 90. I used to have a problem just to reach lvl 90, but now it's a breeze. And avoiding unecessary deaths plays a big role imo. |

Sounds a lot like me. Work full time. Have a family. Only get a couple of hours a night, not every night. I guess my words of wisdom are.
Pick a goal for the evening. Either loot OR xp OR risk. Pick only one. If you are actively playing more than one character, don t switch right when one goes up a level. I find it harder to be motivated to pay one even the xp bar is <1%. I usually hit level and then at least another 10-15%. Decrease the difficulty of the content you are playing the later at night it gets. You get tired, your reaction time slows and there are too many things to kill you if you make a mistake. Don't underestimate how good a defense moving is. If you ever find yourself thinking something like, "the boss is almost dead, I'll just tank the last bit," let go of the mouse and punch yourself in the face. Don't get discouraged when you die. Because you will die. Instead, laugh when you almost die. It keeps the mood light. I don't follow guides anymore and I don't play meta or fast... or well. But I have a couple (2? 3?) 90's. My goal is to get all of my new characters -post 3.0- to 90. You'll get there. Good luck. Wolf I'll take "Swords" for two hundred Alex.

" That was the key lesson for me to learn. I watched some of the top of the ladder streamers to see what they were doing different. The one common theme was keep moving. And I don't mean the rush forward clear speed kind of movement. I would describe it as similar to the stutter step technique common in RTS games. Attack, move, attack, move... The top ladder players do it even when you don't have to do it, so that it becomes a constant habit so that it is there when you truly need it. Last edited by Qiox#1561 on Nov 14, 2017, 11:32:32 PM

my advice is to play a build you actually really enjoy and can just keep playing.
i got 40/40 this league, my first time ever, to which i always thought 40 was way too far out of reach because i just don't play enough. same as you, but i average 2.5 hrs a day. however, playing a build i loved just made it seem easy and fun. the goal is what pushes you, and the enjoyment allows you to overcome the monotony. i used to always just quit at level 85 - now its moreso 90-92 i'll stop playing a char. in harby i have a lvl 95 char (without running rotas, because those are horrible) because of the enjoyment of my build. 90 actually isn't too difficult. it does take some build planning, or just a good build guide, as well as game mechanic knowledge to get through and just not die constantly. i guess moreso, you can't just play like a total casual and not pay attention to things. you need to realize that you have ele weakness, ele equilibrium, and 105% added fire dmg on your map. stuff like this and even more so that isn't as blatantly obvious. so find a build you really enjoy playing, dedicate yourself to the goal and improve your play at each death, instead of getting discouraged and quitting. |

I also never made it past level 90. I don't care about it. I play for fun, but here I found great advices to go past 90 lvl without killing bosses. My deaths are from bosses or not good enough concentration on the game.
I play my own builds and I enjoy them, but I think I can't go past lvl 90 because I don't play smart, but explore and re-read everything and that kills my limited playtime :). But still, I play only for fun and it's not my life-goal to become lvl 90 or grind all my free time. Remember, my friend, that the expectation leads to disappointment. So don't expect anything from anyone, even from yourself.

I hit 90 about 2 weeks ago for the first time.
Been here since mid 2012. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

I used the 'avoid-bosses' method, and just ran every red map I had. I have also been here (on and off) since 2012, and Harbinger was my first level 90+.
Still no shaper though... maybe next time. |

Don't find that leveling past 90 really matters. You can have goals that will get you to the next level, but it's hard to make leveling the goal. I got to 91 while I was trying to complete my atlas. If I didn't, it wouldn't have mattered. It's called a soft cap because each player decides for themselves when leveling up stops being a reward worth seeking. For me it's about 85. 85-90 is pretty easy to get, but I don't get it for the levels... they just kind of happen. Some players play to 95. Crazy by my standards. Even deathless, I don't think I could maintain that level of interest in a character.
