I'm not sure how badly the curses would cripple you. Especially in red maps.
Sorry if this has been answered already, but does totem life affect the damage at all? Would it be worth it to scale totem life through the tree? Or does dark pack just use base life of the totem..

You could give this a try on SC. I tried it out on my Ascendant, and was able to clear T14 with a level 8 Dark Pact with the other gems at level 20.
We're all just walkin' through this darkness on our own.
Re Soulmantle: Please see thread above for discussion. TLDR: I expect it would be very fun for SC. In HC, I expect it would be very fun for a little while.

Re Totem life: I have no hard proof, but I can say that it does feel like totem life scales damage somewhat. I believe darkpact when cast used 6% of the totems total life and adds to base spell damage


In other news: I made my Shaper attempt today. Though I believe the build to be Shaper viable, and I am reasonably sure I could complete the run in SC, I am not personally good enough to do Shaper in hc at this time. I was too slow on an early dodge and ended up being hit by one of his big slams...

But I lived. Suprising, but true. Not that I would recommend face-tanking Shaper. I didn't video so I don't have the exact damage, but I believe it was somewhere north of 10k based on how my life dropped. After that, I panicked, got a few bad vortex placements, and decided to hell with it. I will go fight other things. I note that I had the Solaris pantheon, fully buffed, selected for this fight. Might have made a difference--hard to tell.

Hopefully one of you trying the build who already knows the Shaper fight will be able to give it more of a shot than I did. Either way, happy to have gotten this far, and happy to be continuing in hc to see what else the build can do.

Really good to hear that it could be Shaper viable. I am playing on Softcore, and I am going to give the armor a shot, see how bad it is. I think a level 20 curse might suck, unless you can avoid all the damage.

Soul Mantle stacks curses on you for each totem death
I run dual kikazru rings on Totem builds when equipping soul mantle to get a 80%nerf plus there is that templar curse debuff
Amazing build. Just hit lvl 63 on act 10 and never died so far. Going for merc lab today before finishing act 10. All i can say totems one shooted everything. Bosses die so fast it is amazing.Now i need to invest in gear with life on it (2.8k atm) and now going for crit spell nodes and totem crit cluster to experiment,if not i will be respect in more life nodes. So far this build is amazing. Not needing to be stationary is just pure fun, placing totems andr just dashing and walking around.Did cruel lab with lvl 47 with no problems. Will see how it will work in engame:) So far is goooood.

dark pact only sacrifice to deal extra % more dmg, your base hp does affect darkpact dmg, and the nerf on spell totem's life is nothing, 6% of 1000 or 6% of 500 still kill totem same.

Re Uber Lab: Yes. I have been able to farm uber lab since shortly after I did the uber ascendancy run myself, and I have escorted many people through it on this build.

Re Cyrus: Very glad you are enjoying the build! I will be interested to see if crit can be made to work. My own experimenting in POB seems to suggest you'll need to gear for it heavily to make it worthwhile.

Current thoughts: Having played against some of the top tier content, I have been working on a few modifications. These are solely for the sake of potentially taking on Shaper/Uber Atziri/Chayula, and for making farming the Guardians more reasonable. None of them are necessary for the content below T16. With that disclaimer, here they are:

1. Imrpove movement speed: I got hit in the shaper fight because I was too slow. In preparing to try again, I grabbed a pair of 30% boots, crafted 5% movespeed onto my belt, and added the precision node for another 3%. I have also taken to using the buffed Garukan pantheon (6% inc move speed if not hit recently) instead of Ryslatha when I am not doing lab. Flow of the game feels better.

2. Improve attack speed and accuracy: Frenzy charges add a significant chunk to our damage, but I was finding them difficult to keep up in tough boss fights (T15+) due to low accuracy and inadequate attack speed. Adding the precision cluster and leveling up faster attacks a few more levels as a result of the extra dex has helped with this significantly.

3. Improve damage: At my most tanky, I was up over 13k EHP. This was nice, but felt like a little bit of overkill, with too much potential damage being sacrificed. I scaled it back to right around 12k and buffed the damage by about 20%. Pastebin link for the new tree and jewels in POB is https://pastebin.com/FR86nacG. Damage, according to POB, when at full frenzy charges with arcane surge up is now 71.5k/totem/sec.

As a sidenote here, I looked at adding damage via crit and it was comparatively inefficient. POB seems to say that this ought to be a non-crit build, at least in hc.

4. Chase Unique: A 6-Link Covenant Robe. This would sacrifice only a small amount of life (since the robe provides 10% increased life) and buff our damage by another 10% or so when we replace the added chaos gem (since the robe provides lvl 15 added chaos) with faster casting. It would incidently apply blood magic to our totems, which is likely a small benefit since we regen life a bit faster and the life flasks are more effective.
