It is still impossible to get 60 fps gameplay end game [SOLVED]

Interesting, so they may have tweaked HoI a bit, then. I did a Glacial Cascade-build a few leagues back that spammed HoI all over the place and yeah, that was laggy af. ;)

Corpses.. That makes no sense unless something is eating away on them (some particle effect or something). Weird. So, what numbers are you seeing if you spam through say Dried Lake?
It seems the main reason for the fps spikes is

1) the T16 forge tile set seems to be really bad, possibly because the ground is layered on lava but the gpu still tries to process it even though it is hidden
2) excessive pack size on maps interacting with multi hitting skills like lightning arrow or kb

Basically, every % gain in pack size linearly increases processing strain for skills that hits every several times per activation. I imagine even sunder should cripple fps. HoI did not seem to have a huge impact oddly. my performance was noticeably better on dried lake.

Basically, the faster your clear speed, the worse game play you will have.

Ah, that's gotta be it Nephalim.. The lava. Fire ground effects are really awful, they bog down the GPU a lot. :/

That's great feedback though, sounds like you've identified what the problem is. Hopefully GGG reads this, or maybe email them or something to make sure they're aware.
i recommend uninstalling PC Optimizer Pro, Windows Defendre, Driver Doctor, Pando Media Booster, and run malwarebytes/ccleaner

also 2500k is quite old. unless you have it oc'd to 4.8ghz at least dont expect good single core performance and even then it lags behind significantly compared to the 6700k

Are you saying i2500k is insufficient to play at the settings I have it at currently and a CPU upgrade would give me consistent 60 fps instead of this horrible 20-40 fps mess?

6700k is a $300 CPU which I am absolutely willing to spend on if it means I can get semi decent play.
I have already wasted nearly a grand on MTX at this point and more than that on computer components.

I think the bigger issue is your system as a whole, and that a clean install of your OS would benefit you a lot. You never mentioned whether or not your 2500k is overclocked but even at the base clock of 3.3ghz it should be doing better than that. If you're at 4.5+ ghz and still the performance is this bad it's not your hardware it's because you've gunked up the gears with adware, or maybe it's even thermal throttling.

I get smooth 50 min fps even with just a 4460 3.2ghz haswell chip. You should be able to smoke it with a one touch overclock and if you aren't something is wrong.

PoE loves single core performance, that's why the guy with the 6600k is getting such good results.

I will say this though, 120fps sitting idle in HO is very, very low, my sons comp has an i3-4170 with a gtx 960 and he gets 170fps in my HO. Honestly i feel like my 250fps is low if we are just talking idle.

Yeah I wanted to mention that too, I just logged onto an old hardcore character, went to the hideout, and im pulling 380-460 fps with a gtx 960 and aforementioned 4460. His system theoretically should outperform mine, yet even with me running quite a few applications right now I'm getting 3-4x higher idle frames.

Run ccleaner, defrag, disk check, malwarebytes, uninstall stuff, dont allow so much to be running in the background etc.. windows installations slow down over time and can become snail speed if not maintained.

I'm fairly aggressive about add ware and run malwarebytes fairly consistently. I have the OS sitting on an isolated SSD and poe on another SSD.

I hideout fps 120 because it hideout decor drags down frame rates. In a blank one it is closer to 180.

Something worth noting is that my monitor is set to 120hz refresh rate on a 2560X1440P resolutin. A monitor with 60 hz refresh rate and 400 FPS is only actually getting 60 FPS because the monitor does not refresh fast enough to get those extra frames.

I dont think I OC'ed my CPU but I can certainly do a short test to see if it improves performance.

Hm, does this mean the multi core threading is kind of junk and that PoE is really better off with multi threading turned off with a newer cpu?

Get ready for a lot of blue screening, that's just part of the process. Watch your temps and don't go above ~1.45v unless you really know what you're doing. Honestly you should check how many phases your mobo has to make sure you aren't going to blow the VRM's or demand too much from your PSU..

Also this may sound dumb but have you considered running the game in 1080p?
