On the subject of Gold.

One of you, crying for gold, tell me:

what is the difference between an imagined coin of gold, and an imagined bank note (in shape of a wisdom scroll!), both can stand as the lowest amount of value...

The only unequal thing is, that you dont be rewarded with lots of coins for your sellings, but with a higher based, different value symbol instead (orbs)

Orbs have all their inherent use, making them always useful for someone - just like the different recipes including mid-level runes in D2 were traded. The only reason to trade items against gold in D2, was for the gambling - nobody beside this trades against gold, everything is exchanged on a PG/Rune base.

One reason for this (an not only related to D2, or POE but mainly in general for ladder systems) is the fact, that the exchange rates depend always on demand AND availability - and this is constantly changing by time in a ladder system (raising avail at constant or decreasing demands), coins as a hoardable currency cant really be balanced for this... (since nobody can force you to sink it instead of hoard, even if there is a viable sink)

@Gobblerbaster: thought about going outside the camp and simply slaining 5 foes, or just kick 5 chests? 5 Items are always worth at least one SoW...

The reason he is hinting at is that it's because it's simply better and everyone has prefered it.
It would be such a trivial thing to write in gold in the lore so to even make that argument is just ridiculous.
I'd like a car, please. People all over the modern world prefer them as a mode of transportation over walking, and they could just write it into the lore.

Gold simply isn't going to happen in this game. I don't see the point in people requesting it at this point.

Oh... geezzz. So change the word "gold" to "small rocks from the act1 beach". The unified curency that will add value to all other "currency" items and gear IS NEEDED.

Srsly whiteboy no offense but im sick form reading your posts, your "i know better" attitude and "GGG cannot maka a design mistake and the game is ideal and screw valid complaints in numerous topics on forums form numerous ppl - this is not going to happen".

We are here to beta test, to find flaws and to propose and discuss solutions. To an open minded game developer there is no such thing as "this is not gonna happen".
And all you do is going from thread to thread and bash other ppl opinions with meaningless "this is not going to happen" or "i know better" or "i dont see point of duscussion" (because i know better).
You are no helping to make PoE better game - at all.

There is SO MUCH valid complaints and gameplay and game systems flaws disucussed now on this forums (orbs usability, crafting overall, currency, endgame, respecs, monsters boredom, etc..) that BETA testers found in this game and you and a small group of other users that believe in ideality of PoE simply walk from thread to thread and defend the game with zealotry and decline other ppl opinions with no arguments.

And even dont answer me plz - for me is not topic to discussion. This simply must end.

On topic: Having unfied currency that is described in this and other topics numerous times with arguments will be great (dont call it gold if this offend you). Also there are numerous arguments that not having gold in game sucks (and many other aRPGs confirms that opinion) but bad economy and no goldsinks (like in D2) sucks. In PoE we have atm both lol.
Its not gold fault that D2 system is flawed - its bad design and Blizzard's fault.

Cars wouldn't fix the problems (perceived or not) with the system being discussed. Such an analogy is incredibly obtuse.
please no gold ! gold stink...
we are in an aftermath world what's the point with money here ?
for one time they create a game with some kind of originality in it, and you want gold ???
as said Mr Cee, billions of gold are a joke and in no way a currency in D2, only a gambling tool.
there's no casino on wraeclast it's a dying world.
try to feed zombies with your beloved gold!

no curency = ever changing trade and possibilities of simple fair trade and exchange between players without the god of gold looking over your shoulders to judge the holy justness of your trade...
... nothing

I don't swing strongly one way or the other on this topic, but I find the idea of fair trade between players to be a naive dream at best.
i'd prefer to be naive than greedy...
gold is the symbol of greed.
I don't need it to play a game...
... nothing

Then I'm sure you'll enjoy being ripped off.

You will never see any gold, or either AH in Wraeclast. The end is here already.

As almost everyone else does, I use "gold" to mean "uniform currency." It is not needed. Desired by many, but definitely not needed.

There is a dev diary that details why GGG doesn't want a uniform currency in this game. Getting them to change their minds on this after hearing so many opinions is extremely unlikely.

Feel free to not read my posts, then. I have never said "I know better" on these forums. If I disagree with something, I have the right to counter it or offer my opinion, just as others have the right to do the same.

I encourage this. That is the entire point of beta testing: to find flaws and help move the game development forward with ideas. Still, there is a point where the devs have to hold their ground to make the game that they intended to make. There are so many repeated suggestions that the devs have shot down in the past; repeating these suggestions over and over isn't going to make them change their minds. Itemized, non-uniform currency is a core aspect/feature of this game. GGG isn't going to change that just because it would make a couple of things easier.

Again, I have the right to disagree (in my country, at least). I don't storm into threads yelling "THAT IDEA SUX" or anything similar. I try to express my ideas in a legible format, although I do have a tendency for sarcasm. I don't tell people they are wrong because they disagree with me.

Don't start a personal discussion in public unless you want a public response.

That was a sarcastic tangent to the discussion, used to show a point of view. The fact that gold could be added doesn't mean it should be added. They could just as easily add many other things to the lore to make them fit into the game, but there is no need to do so when you have a working system already.
